Kelly Olynyk goes No. 13 to Dallas
The Mavericks are trying desperately to clear cap space to make a big free agent splash and moving this pick was a first step in that process.
Boston is in the middle of blowing it up. Rivers is gone, Garnett and Pierce are openly being shopped and there isn't a whole lot around Rondo besides Jeff Green and Avery bradley anymore.
Olynyk emerged as one of the most skilled players in the country last season and, while he is not a great athlete, will add basketball I.Q. and skill to a team that has suddenly entered a rebuilding process.
Last year's Celtics team struggled to put the ball in the hoop and that was especially evident in the playoffs against the Knicks. Olynyk will have opportunities to try his hand at scoring against NBA level defenses with the playing time that should open up, especially if Garnett and/or Pierce leave town.
