Al Horford, Louis Williams, and DeShawn Stevenson are Atlanta's only players from last year's team that got significant minutes under contract for 2013-14.
They've been involved in Dwight Howard and Chris Paul rumors but, to this point, have yet to make any big moves. With so much roster and salary flexibility, many expected them to ship one or both of these picks in an attempt to land a star, but now the selection of Schroeder and Nogueira, it looks as though they're building around a foreign point guard and center combination.
If you're going to start with a clean slate, Al Horford is a nice player to build around. He is a solid all around player and allows the team to build in a variety of ways around him.
It will be interesting to see how the Hawks fill out the roster but, until then, it will be interesting to see how Schroeder and Nogueira ultimately fit into Atlanta's plan.
Schroeder is a quick, athletic, and long point guard who has drawn comparisons to Rajon Rondo. Atlanta will be thrilled if those comparisons hold true.
