Cleveland takes Sergey Karasev at No. 19
Cleveland acquired this pick in a forgettable trade that sent Luke Walton and Jason Kapono to Cleveland in exchange for Ramon Sessions and Christian Eyenga.
With so much youth already on the Cavs roster and a few more picks coming at the beginning of the second round, it made sense for them to ship off a few picks in exchange for real players. This pick was widely reported to be part of a package that would include the top pick, but Portland and the other teams considering moving up clearly didn't bite.
Rather than moving the pick, it is possible that Karasev may stay in Russia in order to develop more before coming to Cleveland. But his shooting ability may be enough for him to contribute right away.
The Cavs biggest positional need was at small forward and, after surprising everyone by taking Anthony Bennett, they seem to have some young depth at the position now.
