Denver selects Rudy Gobert at No. 27 for Denver
Gobert broke records at the combine with his length and hand size. He is over 7" without shoes on, but he is still thin and not athletic, a combination that usually hurts NBA prospects. But scouts like his skills and you can't teach tall, so there is definitely value there, even if it is mostly potential.
If Utah keeps Al Jefferson and Paul Milsap, Gobert will likely not see the floor much next year. But both Jefferson and Milsap are free agents, so Utah's big man rotation is very much up in the air.
Even if either Milsap and Jeferson leave, Gobert will still be behind Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors on the depth chart.
Gobert's size presents significant potential, but it's unlikely that we'll find out what that potential will translate into for at least a couple of years.
