The Washington Wizards have selected Otto Porter with the third pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.   Porter played at Georgetown, so he won't have to travel very far to continue his basketball career.

Mandatory Credit: Jerry Lai-USA TODAY SportsThe Wizards, like Cleveland, seem to be on the verge of competing for one of the bottom playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.  With John Wall, Bradley Beal, and Nene (not to mention other high draft picks like Jan Vesely) already in place, Porter should add to an already talented core.

Porter is expected to contribute immediately and provide perimeter defense for a team that was already top-10 in points allowed per game.

But even with a top-10 scoring defense, the Wiz finished with a 29-53 record,  Their struggles were primarily on offense, where their 93.2 points per game was 28th best in the association.  Porter is projected to be steady shooter and a well rounded, NBA ready player.  Along side Bradley Beal, Porter's ability to shoot should give Wall plenty of space to penetrate and his all around game should translate well at the next level.
