Update: Reports are that that Noel is headed to the Philadelphia 76ers in a trade.

A year after selecting Anthony Davis with the top pick, New Orleans has added Nerlens Noel with the sixth pick in Jun 27, 2013; Brooklyn, NY, USA; Nerlens Noel (Kentucky) before the 2013 NBA Draft at the Barclays Center. Mandatory Credit: Jerry Lai-USA TODAY Sportsthis year's draft.

When healthy, Davis looked like a promising talent and Noel will add another rim protector to a team that seems to be progressing faster than some other rebuilding teams out there.

Greivis Vasquez, Eric Gordon, Ryan Anderson, and Anthony Davis led the team in minutes (although Anderson didn't starrt all that much) and are all solid players that could play for good teams. And with Al-Farouq Aminu and Robin Lopez, they have some capable defensive specialists too.

Noel doesn't need to be the star of the team.  Gordon and Anderson are going to remain the go-to scorers and they have already have a potential defensive anchor, so Noel can come come off the bench, get healthy, and adjust to NBA game.

It is definitely an interesting pick that puts two shot blocking Kentucky centers together, but he was the best player available and was certainly the best prospect they could have gotten in that position.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him shipped elsewhere after the draft.
