I can't believe I just wrote those words, but it's the truth.
As you well know, I hate the Spurs. But don't mistake that for blindly failing to acknowledge they play good basketball. It's the flopping and complaining that's irritating.
Tony Parker is well on his way to becoming the most valuable player in these NBA Finals. He is also well on his way to becoming one of the most underrated players in all of basketball. If I'm forced to decide between Allen Iverson and Tony Parker as my PG, it's a no-brainer. TP. Much like the game of football, if you can run up the middle on an opponent you're going to own them. Parker can penetrate at will on just about every defense, and as we've seen the Cavs have effectively been owned.
Many laugh at the notion of play Eric Snow extended minutes, but will contend that's the only way Cleveland has a chance. Even if it forces a 4 on 5 situation on the other end. Containing Tony Parker gives Cleveland the best chance.
We know the story on the other end of the court. San Antonio is a superb defensive team and is doing whatever it can to minimize Lebron. James isn't having a bad series. No one triple teamed is going to drop 48. Teams couple triple Jordan because of Pippen. Lebron needs Gibson to get hot early and Big Z to stop being zzzzzzz.
Let's hope we get a good game tonight. Cleveland fans deserve a win, and the NBA TV ratings could sure use a win.
