NBA Playoff Triple Threat: Could Atlanta Actually Pull Off The Upset?
READ MORE:
Every day during the NBA playoffs, the Triple Threat will break down the latest action as we get closer to awarding the Larry O'Brien Trophy.

Atlanta 97 Boston 92 The Atlanta Hawks evened up the series at 2 games apiece with the victory over the Boston Celtics tonight. There is definitely one sentence I never thought that I would type. The Hawks used a 20 point 4th quarter from Joe Johnson to pull away from the Celtics and out score them that 4th quarter by 15 points. Johnson finished the game with 35 points and Josh Smith added 28. So the series heads back to Boston and the Hawks might actually believe that they can do this. Could the youngest team in the playoffs pull off the biggest upset in NBA history?

LA Lakers 107 Denver 101 The Lakers joined Orlando in the 2nd round by sweeping the Nuggets. The Nuggets made this game the most competitive of the four this series with the Nuggets within 2 points with less than 30 seconds in the game but a bucket by Pau Gasol and a free throw by Kobe made the final score what it was. Kobe had 14 of his 31 in the final 5 and a half minutes to finish off the Nuggets. The Nuggets were the first 50 win team to be swept in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. Granted they were also the first 50 win team that was also an 8 seed.

Orlando 102 Toronto 92 If Orlando beats Toronto 4-1 in the series and no one watches it on TV did it really happen? Was I the only one to not even realize that this series was over until after seeing it scroll at the bottom of the Atlanta/Boston game? In all seriousness, Orlando became the first team to make it to round 2 with the 4-1 series victory over the Raptors. Dwight Howard had yet another monster game with 21 points, 21 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Howard also became the third player since 1972 to average 22 points, 18 rebounds, and 3 blocks for an entire series. The two players he joins on that list are Moses Malone (’79) and Kareem (’77 & ’74).
