NBA Playoff Triple Threat: On To Game 7

Spurs Thrash Hornets to Even Up Series
by gearhead

Every day during the NBA playoffs, the Triple Threat will break down the latest action as we get closer to awarding the Larry O'Brien Trophy.

San Antonio 99, New Orleans 80 Another home win, again by double digits, just like every game in this series. The Spurs extended their season, but still must win on the road in Game 7 in order to keep it going. San Antonio started hot, taking a 12 point lead after the first and keep it into halftime. Unlike other this game this series and year, the Spurs kept it going in the third quarter, giving up just 12 points to put it out of reach. Adding injury to insult for the Hornets, David West left the game in the fourth after reaggravating his back injury. This happened when he was brought down by Robert Horry. As we see here and later, while the Spurs did well, they didn't do themselves any favors in lessening the resentment against them.  For Hornets fans and Spurs haters, while they are comforted by the massive home court advantage these playoffs, it would've been much less nerve-racking had the Hornets been able to close it out tonight.

Triple Threat Clip Of the Night

Again, from Odenized, a series of offensive fouls called on the Hornets in the third. Not surprisingly, some are questionable. It doesn't take a skilled lip reader to see how David West feels about it.

Now it's your turn. Discuss tonight's game and preview Friday's games. What will win out in this series: experience or home court? Can the Cavs and Jazz stay alive?

They always say the series doesn't start until someone loses at home, so if the Hornets win game 7 did the series even happen?

Only some of those were questionable?  Jeez.  I didn't watch the game so I can't say for certain, but it seems like those 3 fouls may've been key to the Spurs pulling away from the Hornets.  Its hard to blame the Spurs for being such p*$$#es when the refs call that crap.

First move was clearly a block by Bowen, seeing as he was in the circle. When douchebags like Bowen are in the circle you should be allowed to kick them in the nuts, with no foul called, before making your shot.

Second one was a total acting job by Bowen. He acted like he got hit by a dump truck.

Third was legit enough. Duncan had two feet down, although he definitely flopped.

Spurs suck.

Kuth Thomas - very good flopper.  Manu never get's his props despite his efforts with his team.  NO MVP or Allstar vote.  Bowen - must bribe refs for the fouls that are called in favor of the Spurs.  West didn't play well.  NO looked disoriented in the 4th quarter.  Coach of the Year should prove his title or else its going to blow in his face.  Remember the 2 Finals appearances when you were with the Nets?

those two calls on Bowen were spectacularly bad!  How much money could he possibly be throwing the ref's way?
