Every day during the NBA playoffs, the Triple Threat will break down the latest action as we get closer to awarding the Larry O'Brien Trophy.Phoenix 105, San Antonio 86 Never in doubt, the Suns staved off elimination with this rout. In the end, it probably won't matter much, but it had to feel great for the Suns and their fans to get one against their rivals, especially in this manner. It might at least give some psychological salve for next season. Of course, the Spurs still lead the series 3-1 with it heading back to San Antonio, so the good feelings might be short lived.
Cleveland 100, Washington 97 Often when LeBron James passes up the final shot, he is criticized. Not this time though as Delonte West took that shot and nailed a three with 5.7 seconds to go. The Wizards couldn't respond, and Cleveland skated off with the win. The LeBron-DeShawn Stevenson escalated further late in the first half, when Stevenson swiped LeBron with his hand. Stevenson was called for a flagrant. No matter to the Cavs, who are up 3-1 and go back home Wednesday to try and close it out.
Detroit 93, Philadelphia 84 For a half, it looked like the Sixers could continue their impressive run, as they led by 10 at the break. The Pistons took complete control in the second half though to even up the series. Detroit outscored Philly 34-16 in the third, highlighted by an 11-0 run that gave the Pistons the lead. For the Sixers, this is a big hit. Up 3-1 as the underdog is huge compared to being tied at 2. That's where they stand though going back to Detroit.
New Orleans 97, Dallas 84 The Hornets finally got their win in Dallas, and as such have a tight grip on the series. The Mavs led by seven after the first, but it all fell apart from there. New Orleans gave up just 14 in the second to take the lead, which they held from there. Dallas had a mini-meltdown, with Jason Kidd being ejected with 7:16 left after committing a flagrant on Jannero Pargo. Even the fans got into the act, as one seated in the row as Mark Cuban was tossed. The Hornets lead the series 3-1, and they look like they want to keep playing, while the Mavs look like they want the season to end.
