NBA Triple Threat: Your (almost) daily roundup of last night's action in the Association:
Spurs 97, Mavs 94 The end of this game shows why the Spurs could win the title, and why the Mavs probably won't. Trailing by 2 with 34.5 to play, Dallas got two missed shots by Nowitzki, followed by a broken play resulting in a Jason Terry shot being blocked. All that with Jason Kidd inexplicably sitting on the bench. Then, during the desperation foul, Nowitzki and Eric Dampier collided, sending Dirk to the floor. This sequence confirmed what we already knew. San Antonio has the ability to get it done down the stretch, and Dallas does not.
Lakers 106, Heat 88 The Lakers won their 10th in a row. Jordan Farmar was the surprising top scorer in the game, finishing with 24 points. The Heat, meanwhile, still suck. They fell behind 22-6 early, and were outrebounded 55-40.
Nets 120, Bucks 106 Devin Harris made an impact right away in his first game as a Net. Harris scored 16 of his 21 points early in the game to give New Jersey a lead they would hold on to through the game. New Jersey shot a scorching 64% from the field in the first half, and were 11-23 from downtown for the whole game.
Best Lines
- Tim Duncan, SA: 31 pts, 12-20 FG, 15 rebs, 3 ast, 1 stl, 1 blk
- Andrew Bogut, Mil: 22 pts, 11-16 FG, 15 rebs, 4 ast, 1 stl, 2 blk...At least Bogut has developed to the point where he can dominate teams with soft middles like New Jersey.
- Jordan Farmar, LAL: 24 pts, 9-14 FG, 4-8 3PT, 4 rebs, 3 ast, 3 stl, 1 blk
- Cassell waived - This article points that he's going to Boston. Either they're right, or it's East Coast Bias striking again.
- Barry to return to San Antonio - Shocking, I know.
- James Dolan wants Kiki and Isiah - I've tried for ten minutes to come up with an equivalent comparison for this, and I couldn't do it. Feel free to come up with some.
Also, a programming note. I will be Cleveland tonight, taking in the Cavs-Wolves game. If my planned alcohol consumption does not erase my brain, I'll be sure to report here how the new look Cavs, and something on the Wolves for the two other fans we have here.
