NBA Triple Threat: Your (almost) daily roundup of last night's action in the Association:First off, my apologizes for the long time between posts. Responsibilities and procrastinating on those responsibilities with alcohol have taken precedence.
Lakers rally late 17 points in the final 5:56. 11 straight to give the Lakers their first lead in the game. A spinning lay-up. A 360 degree slam. All in a night's work for Kobe Bryant, whose late explosion turned what looked like a loss into a 117-105 victory over the Kings. I'm sure there will be video posted once it becomes available.
Warriors outgun Hawks Golden State got to play at their breakneck pace, and it led them to a 135-118 over Atlanta. The win was the Warriors' 16th road victory this season, their most since 1993-94. The Hawks were able to hang with the pace for a half, but lost it after a 15-0 run by Golden State early in the third quarter.
Spurs win 10th straight Look who have decided to peak in the later months of the season to get ready for a playoff run. Again. San Antonio won their 10th straight, beating the Nets 81-70 in what I'm sure was an exciting game for those at AT&T Center. Any slim chance New Jersey had of winning this ended with a 18-1 run by the Spurs at the end of the second and into the third quarter. The Spurs won despite shooting 33.8% from the field, an indication of how ugly this game.
Best Line
- Baron Davis, GS: 35 pts, 16-25 FG, 3 rebs, 9 ast, 2 stl
- Tim Duncan, SA: 29 pts, 11-21 FG, 12 rebs, 3 ast, 2 blk
- Pau Gasol, LAL: 31 pts, 10-15 FG, 11-13 FT, 10 rebs, 4 ast, 2 stl, 3 blk...Let me just ask the questions now. If the Lakers win the title, do they give Chris Wallace a full playoff share?
- Birdman is back - It looks like the Hornets will resign him, which if he can anything like he was pre-suspension, will be a good thing. The Hornets' frontcourt depth after West and Chandler is, well, there isn't any.
- Artest fined - "Once we get the coaches believing that we can make the playoffs, we'll be fine." Ron, look at the standings. It's called being realistic.
- Last ditch efforts to keep the Sonics - As much as it sucks the Sonics are almost certainly leaving Seattle, and the circumstances surrounding it, it's nice to see one city at least put their foot down and say no to the taxpayer funded stadium scam.
