NBA Triple Threat: Back After a Hiatus
11/20/07
NBA Triple Threat: Your daily roundup of last night's action in the Association:First off, sorry about the long break. Real life and computer issues got in the way. We should be back on the regular schedule now.
Magic win fifth straight Yes, Chris Paul was out, and Tyson Chandler left the game in the second quarter. It was still an impressive road win for the Magic, 95-88 over the Hornets, just one day after ending Boston's undefeated start. Quietly, the Magic have started 10-2. The Hornets have also started well at 9-3, but obviously their continued success is dependent on the health of Paul and Chandler.
Jazz pound Nets This is the sixth straight loss for New Jersey, and possibly the worst one yet, a 102-75 destruction at the hands of Utah. Vince Carter being hurt is a big reason, but it doesn't help with Jason Kidd shoots 1-9 and the team as a whole shoots 35.2%. Utah improves to 8-4.
Best start ever for Bobcats Note though that the "best 10 game start ever" for Charlotte is 6-4, and the best team they've beaten so far is Indiana. Still, it's a start for the Bobcats, as they defeat Portland 101-92.
Best Lines
- Dwight Howard, Orl: 24 pts, 10-14 FG, 15 rebs, 2 ast, 1 stl, 2 blk
- Raymond Felton, Cha: 24 pts, 2 rebs, 10 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk...Felton's continued progression is very important to the Bobcats, especially since Brevin Knight left in the offseason.
- Paul Millsap, Uta: 9 pts, 10 rebs, 2 stl, 1 blk, 24 min...What a find Millsap was for the Jazz in last year's second round.
- Colangelo to rescue the Knicks? - I'm mostly throwing this out here, much like this columnist seems to do. If it does happen, it wouldn't happen until after the Olympics.
- Riley losing team? - This happens to just about every coach at some point, and given the Heat's roster construction, the lack of winning must make it harder to listen to their coach.
- Attendance a problem in New Orleans - Let's see, a problem that existed before Hurricane Katrina exists after the city lost thousands of people? Unbelievable. George Shinn remains one of the five to ten worst owners in sports.
