NBA Triple Threat: Your (almost) daily roundup of last night's action in the Association:Bobcats pull off the big upset Jason Richardson had a field day and the Bobcats did the improbable, defeat the Celtics in Boston, albeit with Ray Allen out. Richardson scored 34 points and added 9 rebounds in Charlotte's 95-83 victory. Amazingly enough, it was only Charlotte's second road win of the season. Late, Boston got as close as 83-76 down, but two Richardson free throws and two Nazr Mohammed baskets kept Charlotte ahead for good.
Dallas pounds Detroit Yes, it was at Dallas, and yes, Detroit was coming off a tough game against Boston. However, the Mavs dominating 102-86 win should still show how much better the West still is over the East. The Pistons lead for a grand total of 14 seconds.
Lakers destroy Hornets It was a true team effort for the Lakers. Six players finished in double figures and they got 54.9% from the field. Thus, despite "only" 19 points from Kobe, LA cruised to a 109-80 road victory over the Hornets.
Best Lines
- Jason Richardson, Cha: 34 pts, 14-22 FG, 9 rebs, 3 ast, 2 stl
- Jose Calderon, Tor: 17 pts, 6-10 FG, 3-5 3PT, 6 rebs, 9 ast, 2 stl...John Hollinger argued that Calderon should be on the All-Star team. Nights like this show why he has a case.
- Mo Williams, Mil: 35 pts, 3 rebs, 6 ast, 1 stl...Disclaimer: It came against the Heat.
- Is this Riley's last year? - Honestly, knowing Riley, he might bail before the season ends.
- Interest in Redick - I never thought I'd see the day.
- Bird deciding what to do - Given that Indiana is 9th in the East, rebuilding would make more sense than going for a crappy playoff spot.
