NBA Triple Threat: Your (almost) daily roundup of last night's action in the Association:Shaq debuts with loss The line for Shaq: 29 minutes, 15 points, 6-9 FG, 9 rebs, 1 lob dunk from Nash, 1 dive for a loose ball, 1 inadvertent elbow to Raja Bell's head. In the end though, Kobe Bryant and his 41 points stole the show in LA's 130-124 win. The Lakers shot 56.5% from the field, allowing to lead most of the way. Every time Phoenix got close though, the Lakers would answer, essentially ending it with a Pau Gasol breakaway dunk. Still, there were definitely signs of encouragement for the Suns that this could work. Either way, it should be a fun ride.
Dallas loses in Kidd debut The night started about Jason Kidd back in a Dallas uniform. It ended being about Chris Paul in a 104-93 Hornets victory. Kidd finished with 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists, but often looked out of sync with his new teammates. Chris Paul, meanwhile, went huge, pouring in 31 points, 11 assists, and a career high 9 steals. While Kidd and Dallas have had little time together, it's hard not to wonder once again how big an upgrade this will be.
Baron Davis has onions With 0.3 seconds left and the game tied, Baron Davis from 20 feet: good, game over, is anyone surprised? Warriors win 119-117 over the Celtics, who drop their second straight. Garnett had 17 points and 15 rebounds in his second game back.
Best Lines
- Kobe Bryant, LAL: 41 pts, 16-25 FG, 5 rebs, 3 ast, 2 stl, 2 blk
- Chris Paul, NO: 31 pts, 11-20 FG, 5 rebs, 11 ast, 9 stl
- LeBron James, Cle: 31 pts, 11-22 FG, 14 rebs, 12 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk...Second straight double-double for LeBron. This one results in a win against Indiana.
- Snag in Artest to Denver deal - Basically, the Kings want Linas Kleiza; the Nuggets don't want to give him up. Kleiza is having a good year, but obviously Artest is better. However, could he coexist with AI, Melo, and company?
- Miller, Lowry in high demand - The question is will Memphis try to gain something other than dumping salary?
- Pacers shopping O'Neal - They're also shopping Tinsley, but good luck finding someone who wants him.
- Mo Cheeks extension near - This should quell the Larry Brown talk for about 2 weeks.
- Etan Thomas comeback slow - As someone who has had multiple heart surgeries, it would be amazing if Thomas was able to come back this season. Best of luck to him.
- Cuban not mad at George - Why not? In the revised deal, the Mavs gave up less than the original.
