NBA Triple Threat: Your (almost) daily roundup of last night's action in the Association:
Buzzer-beater sinks Celtics It wasn't the prettiest shot in the world, but Hedo Turkoglu's off balance three at the buzzer went in, giving the Magic an 96-93 win over the Celtics. Boston, however, was playing without Kevin Garnett, who was out with an abdominal strain. After a close first half, Orlando starting pulling away in the second. The Celtics came back, tying it late to set up Turkoglu's heroics.
LeBron outduels Kobe Or, in real basketball terms, the Cavs defeated the Lakers 98-95. LeBron scored 41 points (14 of them in the fourth) to Kobe's 33. The final two points from LeBron were foul shots that gave Cleveland the three point lead with nine seconds left. Despite having nine seconds, the Lakers were unable to get a shot off, sealing their fate. It also must be pointed out that the game was delayed 12 minutes due to a leak in the roof of a facility that opened in 1999.
Win #8! Things continue to look up for the Wolves, who won their third game in their last four, 98-95 over the Nets. New Jersey, meanwhile, is in shambles, having now lost nine in a row. Minnesota came roaring back in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Nets by 13. Al Jefferson had a monster game, with 40 points and 19 boards, including the game winning free throws.
