Chris Paul finished 2 rebounds shy of a triple double and David West added 18 points and 7 rebounds. James Posey added three 4th quarter three pointers to kill the late Phoenix surge. Steve Nash had 24 points and nine assists, and Amare Stoudemire added 21 points and 12 rebounds for Phoenix. The Suns committed 24 turnovers, resulting in 21 New Orleans points. The Hornets moved to 2-0 on the young season and look primed to challenge the Lakers for the top spot in the West.
Houston 102 Dallas 92 That Ron Artest experiment in Houston is working out great for the Rockets as they physically dominated the Mavericks and spoiled Rick Carlisle's debut. Artest had 29 points and 7 rebounds, Yao Ming had 30 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 blocks, and Tracy McGrady chipped in 16. The Rockets are making a strong case after two games that they are more than capable of being contenders in the West after showing the past two nights that they can play a grind it out style or an up and down style. Dirk led the way for Dallas with 36 while Josh Howard added 28 after the tumultuous off season he had.
Cleveland 96 Charlotte 76 LeBron James is one of the best, if not the best, player in the NBA. The problem is James has never had a supporting cast that could help win him win a championshi. But , this year it could be different. With LeBron on the bench early in the 4th quarter the Cavs, behind Daniel Gibson's 25 points and Mo Williams' 17 points, took control of the game and put away the Kitty Cats (as Charles Barkley called them tonight). LeBron had 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists in only 30 minutes of action.
