NBA Triple Threat: Your (almost) daily roundup of last night's action in the Association:Jazz get a big win It doesn't help their road woes, but even at home, Utah has to like beating Dallas 99-90. Jerry Sloan was happy with the Jazz's intensity at the start, with good reason as they opened up 16-0. Utah would blow that lead, but got it back in the third and held on throughout. Utah is now 16-14: 10-2 at home, 6-12 on the road.
Bulls lose first game without Skiles Congratulations Pete Myers, you've become the interim coach of the Chicago Bulls. Your first assignment: coach your disappointing team against the defending champions. As expected, this did not end well for the Bulls, who fell 94-79 to the Spurs. It wasn't all good news for San Antonio, who lost Brent Barry to a strained calf, another blow to a backcourt that's currently missing FBS.
Hawks win 5th straight For the first time since 1999, Atlanta is on a five game winning streak after defeating Indiana 107-95. Seriously. The first five game winning streak in eight years. The Hawks finished with six players in double figures. The Pacers were within three late, but a seven point run by the Hawks put the game away.
Best Lines
- Marcus Camby, Den: 10 pts, 11 rebs, 5 ast, 2 stl, 10 blk...This one was over early. Denver led the Bucks by 30 at halftime.
- Chris Paul, NO: 40 pts, 17-25 FG, 5-8 3PT, 5 rebs, 9 ast, 5 stls...Part #175 or so of Chris Paul is Amazing.
- Monta Ellis, GS: 35 pts, 6 rebs, 4 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk...Standard "against the Wolves" disclaimer applies.
- Skiles quit on players - That would explain why none of the Bulls seemed very distraught over the firing.
- Jason Williams rumors - Wonderful quote by Williams: "We're like some high-paid prostitutes anyway in this league, man. They just use us and get rid of us whenever they want.''
- Marbury still on bereavement - Speculation is that Marbury continues to sit out because of Isiah. Given the season, I'm not sure how true that is.
