NBA Triple Threat: Your (almost) daily roundup of last night's action in the Association:LA Lakers 124, Sacramento 101 The Lakers are now Western Conference regular season champions. The Kings played without Artest, Martin, or Miller, thus making it easy for the Lakers. LA took the lead early and never relinquished.
New Orleans 114, LA Clippers 92 The Hornets won't win the Western Conference, but they still have won the Southwest Division and the #2 seed in the playoffs, which is nothing to sneeze at given where they've been in recent years. This game was close until New Orleans doubled up the Clips 34-17 in the third quarter.
Detroit 115, Minnesota 103 The Pistons clinched the second best record in the league, while the Wolves all but clinched the third most lottery ping-pong balls. Everybody's happy.
Best Lines
- Chris Paul, NO: 22 pts, 10-13 FG, 4 rebs, 12 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk
- James Jones, Por: 20 pts, 6-8 FG, 6-7 3PT, 4 rebs, 1 ast...End of the season lines are always fun.
- Maurice Evans, Orl: 27 pts, 11-16 FG, 4-6 3PT, 3 rebs, 1 ast
- Davis not committed to Golden State - That's not surprising now that the reason for his benching last night came out.
- Schultz sues to get Sonics back - PTI was right, he's just trying to not look like a bad guy in this mess. At what point does waiting for it happen become worse than the move itself for Sonics fans?
- Bob Johnson wants more money - At least he's asking corporations instead of the public.
