NBA Triple Threat: Your (almost) daily roundup of last night's action in the Association:Denver scores at will in Big D Beating a top team on the road is much easier if they can't defend, and you can't miss. Denver shot over 50% from the field in beating the Mavs 122-109. Dirk Nowitzki said it best: "It was a layup drill out there. At no point in the game I thought we could really stop them." It was an impressive win for Denver after last night's tough game with the Lakers. Dallas is now 12-8, and defense is once again a concern.
Joe Johnson ruins Wolves night For 2.2 seconds, it looked like the Wolves would actually win a basketball game, one with real uniforms and everything. Then Joe Johnson hit a buzzer beater to said Minnesota home losers once again 90-89. The Wolves are now 2-15. At one point do they enter the "worst team ever" conversation?
Heat lose fourth straight The Heat's 14th loss of the season came at the hands of Portland 112-106. The Blazers led by as much as 16 in the second half, but saw that lead dwindle to one thanks to Wade, Ricky Davis, and Daequan Cook of all people. However, Portland rebounded down the stretch to keep the Heat at bay and back in the loss column.
Best Lines
- Allen Iverson, Den: 35 pts, 12-19 FG, 11-13 FT, 1 reb, 12 ast, 6 stl...One could certainly argue this was a better game for AI than the 51 point game.
- Marko Jaric, Min: 18 pts, 8 rebs, 9 ast, 3 stl...That includes the shot that almost won the game for Minnesota. Adrianna Lima continues to be a good influence on Jaric.
- Brandon Roy, Por: 25 pts, 11-13 FT, 5 rebs, 6 ast, 1 blk
- Varejao could debut Tuesday - It will be interesting to see how in shape Varejao is.
- Curry sprains ankle--during the walkthrough - The sad thing is this doesn't even hit the top 5 of most bizzare things to happen to the Knicks this year.
- Miles returns to the Blazers - Odds this is a good idea: zero.
