NBA Triple Threat: Your (almost) daily roundup of last night's action in the Association:Denver 118, Dallas 105 For a half and change, it looked like Dallas could withstand the loss of Dirk Nowitzki. At one point in third, the Mavs led 79-71. From then on though, it fell apart. The Nuggets went on a 18-2 run, and from there it was essentially over. The numbers tell the story for Dallas, 70 first half points, 35 second half points. It was an emotional night for the Nuggets, as Nene returned after dealing with a malignant testicular tumor. He played the final 77 seconds.
Golden State 111, Portland 95 The Warriors trailed by one at halftime, but that didn't last long. A dominant third quarter, which saw Golden State get to the line 20 times and double up Portland 40-20, allowed the Warriors to cruise to the victory. With tonight's results, Dallas sits 1/2 game up on Golden State for the 7th seed, who are in turn 1/2 ahead of Denver for the 8th seed. The Warriors' two weekend games: at Denver and home vs. Dallas.
Detroit 85, Miami 69 The Pistons clinched another Central Division title, and the Heat really suck. Let's move on.
Best Lines
- Carmelo Anthony, Den: 32 pts, 11-20 FG, 10-14 FT, 10 rebs, 8 ast, 2 stl
- Monta Ellis, GS: 18 pts, 6-10 FG, 10 rebs, 5 ast, 1 blk
- Aaron Affalo, Det: 15 pts, 5-9 FG, 7 rebs, 2 stl, 1 blk...Not bad for a first career start. Also, take a look at who played for Miami and tell me how many of them will still be in the league next year.
- Memphis targeting Larry Brown? - That sounds like an awful fit.
- Dolan's "preference" is to keep Isiah as coach - Does there even need to be a joke about that?
- Frank will return - Like the rest of the Nets franchise, this gets a "meh" from me.
