NBA Triple Threat: Your (almost) daily roundup of last night's action in the Association:Houston 113, Dallas 98 Make it 17 in a row for the Rockets, who easily defeated the Mavericks. Dallas was playing without Dirk Nowitzki, who was serving a one game suspension for his flagrant foul on Andrei Kirilenko. Tracy McGrady had a big game, scoring 31, as did Rafer Alston, who finished with a season high 24. The Mavs continue to struggle, now 4-6 in their last 10.
Chicago 107, Cleveland 96 It's not good for the Cavs if LeBron scores 26 in the first half and they still lose convincingly. The Bulls hung in there in the first half, then poured it on in the third quarter. Chicago went on a 17 point run early in the third, and late in the period, Ben Gordon scored nine points in 51 seconds. The result was a 14 point lead for the Bulls going into the fourth, a lead they had little problem holding. LeBron, meanwhile, struggled, shooting 3-12 in the second half, while the team as a whole failed to shoot 40% from the floor.
San Antonio 108, Indiana 97 Win #11 in a row for the Spurs, which given the competition isn't too surprising. FBS continues to play some great ball, scoring 28 points on 10-13 shooting. The Spurs remain the top seed in the West (for now) with the win.
Best Lines
- Tracy McGrady, Hou: 31 pts, 13-23 FG, 3 rebs, 9 ast
- Manu Ginobili (FBS), Spurs: 28 pts, 10-13 FG, 8-9 FT, 5 rebs, 3 ast
- Joakim Noah, Chi: 13 pts, 20 rebs (10 off), 2 ast, 1 blk...Compare that to Ben Wallace's 2 point, 10 rebound line. Something tells me the Bulls don't miss him.
- Yi Jianlian to have wrist examined - Yi is averaging 8.9 points and 5.3 boards in 25.5 minutes a game. Do you consider that good for his rookie season, and how much is your opinion swayed by the belief that he's probably not 20?
- Riley: Some players feel too secure - In other words, just like every other bad team ever.
- Wade still committed long-term - Despite the issues this year, you get to play in South Beach, for the team that can pay you the most money, and you get to play with Shawn Marion. Makes sense.
