NBA Triple Threat: Your (almost) daily roundup of last night's action in the Association:Familiar foe hands Spurs first home loss It's a bit of "too little, too late" for the Suns, but they had to enjoy tonight's 100-95 victory of the Spurs for San Antonio's first loss at home this season. The caveat remains though: no Parker in this game. Tim Duncan did play though, scoring a season high 36 to go with 17 rebounds. A back and forth game throughout, the Spurs pulled ahead by one late, but uncharacteristically made mistakes. A missed three by Bowen, a stolen inbounds pass by FBS, all while the Suns kept hitting free throws down the stretch. In the end though, this was more of a moral victory for Phoenix than anything, one that obviously doesn't make up for the playoffs.
Keith Bogans (?) nearly a hero With Dallas clinging to a three point lead over Orlando, Keith Bogans of all people appeared to hit a game tying triple with 3.5 seconds left. However, the refs called it to a two, saying his foot was on the line (correctly). The Mavs hit two free throws, and when the Magic's desperation shot hit iron, Dallas escaped with a 111-108 win.
Hawks continue to surprise, Jazz anything but The Hawks are back to .500 after beating the Jazz 116-111. Utah, meanwhile, can also be added to the early disappointment list as they fall to 14-12. A big reason is Utah's sub-mediocre 5-10 road record. Despite the high score, the fans had plenty of time to nap with the 92 free throws shot in this game.
Best Lines
- Stephen Jackson, GS: 28 pts, 11-22 FG, 12 rebs, 5 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk...OK, maybe making Jackson a captain wasn't such a stupid idea.
- Mike Dunleavy, Jr., Ind: 36 pts, 13-18 FG, 7 rebs, 4 ast, 1 stl...Yes, this was against the Knicks. Why do you ask?
- LeBron James, Cle: 31 pts, 11-13, 8 rebs, 5 ast, 1 stl...LeBron became the youngest player to score 9000 points, while the Cavs got a big double OT victory over the Bucks.
- Brezec forced trade - Primoz Brezec has the power to force a trade? My mind is blown.
- Suns to make a move? - What sort of deal would you make if you were Steve Kerr?
- Buyout coming for Malik Rose - I don't know if Rose has much left in the tank, but if he does, he could be of some use for a contender.
