NBA Triple Threat: Spurs Rebound

NBA Triple Threat: Your (almost) daily roundup of last night's action in the Association:

Spurs edge Suns Hopefully it didn't ruin Jon's night at the Deadspin Super Bowl party, but the Spurs came back in the fourth quarter to defeat the Suns 84-81. Phoenix led most of the game, but the Spurs executed better down the stretch. San Antonio hit their free throws, while the Suns were plagued by missed shots and turnovers after Tim Duncan gave the Spurs the lead with just 15.6 left. Phoenix still has a better record than the Spurs, but losing this game at home (and with the Spurs missing Tony Parker) has to hurt.

No KG, No Problem Kevin Garnett missed another game with his abdominal strain, but the Celtics still remained perfect against the West with a 96-90 victory over Dallas. Boston took the lead for good when Rajon Rando stole a rebound from Dirk Nowitzki and scored with a reverse layup with 42 seconds left.

Lakers blow last shot--again For the second time this week, the Lakers had trouble attempting the final shot of the game, costing them the win. This time around, Lamar Odom shot an airball at the buzzer to seal a 90-89 Pistons win. Detroit had taken the lead with 4.5 seconds left on a three by Tayshaun Prince. Kobe Bryant scored 39 points, including 10 straight in the third quarter, but also had 11 turnovers, the most by any player in a game so far this season.

Best Lines
  • Rajon Rando, Bos: 14 pts, 12 rebs (6 off), 4 ast...How often to guys measuring 6 feet even have 12 rebounds?
  • Tim Duncan, SA: 16 pts, 17 rebs, 7 ast, 2 stl...This is a bit more common.
  • Chris Wilcox, Sea: 18 pts, 13 rebs (5 off), 1 ast...LeBron sat out with a sprained ankle, and thus the Sonics got to enjoy a two game winning streak for once.
Rumors du Jour
  • Jason Kidd, Jason Kidd, Jason Kidd - Of the big rumored deal, the team I wonder about is Portland. On one hand, Harris is better than the guys they give up, none of which are part of the core. However, do you really want to mess with their mojo? Tough call.
  • All-Star reserves announced - I started to comment on this, then I realized I didn't care all that much.
  • Artest on the block? - Good luck with that, Sacramento.
Now it's your turn: share your thoughts on the on and off court action Thursday in the NBA.

Tayshaun Prince is the only guy in the league that can come close to shutting down Kobe.  I know not all of those 11 turnovers were because of Prince, but I know he caused most of them.
