NBA Triple Threat: Your daily roundup of last night's action in the Association.New Orleans 108 Golden St. 103 The game of the night was the late one out West as Western Conference favorites New Orleans needed a Chris Paul layup with 19 seconds to take a one point lead and eventually hit four free throws down the stretch to give them a five point victory over the pesky Warriors. Chris Paul had 21 points and 11 assists while David West and Peja Stojakovic added 24 and 16 points respectively. Corey Maggette had 27 in his Warriors debut and Stephen Jackson played the entire game and had 26 points, 5 assists, and 2 steals while playing the point-forward that Scottie Pippen made famous. The game went back and forth and was one of the more entertaining games of the opening nights.
Toronto 95 Philadelphia 84 Last season Chris Bosh basically put the Raptors on his back and carried them to the playoffs. This year the Raptors have gotten Bosh some help and could spoil the party in the East. Bosh had a huge night, to the tune of 27 points and 11 rebounds, ruining Elton Brand’s debut with the 76ers. Bosh wasn’t the only Raptor who had a big game; Jermaine O’Neal added 17 points and 8 rebounds in his first action since missing 40 games last season. Elton Brand didn’t have a great game in his Philly debut, 14 points and 13 rebounds, but with most of the city's attention turned to the Phillies, Brand shouldn’t have to worry about it. Philadelphia out rebounded the undersized Raptors 56-33 but the Raptors used 10-16 shooting from the three point line to offset the tremendous rebounding edge for the 76ers. I know this is the first game for both teams, but Toronto looks like a serious contender to challenge Boston within the division.
Phoenix 103 San Antonio 98 Tim Duncan and Tony Parker each had 32 points but it wasn't enough as the Suns avenge last seasons first round playoff series loss to the Spurs behind Amare Stoudemire's 22 points off the bench. Shaq played like it was 2005 and had a 15 point, 13 rebound game in a game that had a little extra spice after Shaq called the Hack-a-Shaq strategy a "coward move." Greg Popovich poked fun at Shaq in the opening seconds of the ballgame when Michael Finley grabbed the big center away from the ball a whole five seconds into the game. Shaq laughed when he looked over to the Spurs bench and saw Popovich smiling while giving two thumbs up. Steve Nash chipped in with 13 points and 13 assists and Grant Hill added 13 points to give Terry Porter a win in his debut as Suns coach.
Best Lines

- Dwight Howard: 22 points, 15 rebounds, 5 steals, and 5 blocks
- Dwayne Wade: 26 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds
Rumors and Random Notes
- Could Stephen Jackson be headed to Detriot? It would certainly put Detroit back in the discussion as favorites in the East.
- Greg Oden will miss 2-4 weeks with mid-lateral foot sprain. I hate to see this happen to the "kid" but another injury and we will have to start thinking Sam Bowie 2.0
- Golden St. may be one of the most entertaining teams in the NBA but they still have the most expensive Hot Dogs in the league.
- Aaron Afflalo has too many nicknames. My personal favorite is Snowflake, that one is real manly.
