Blog Photo - NBA legend Bill Russell cited for having a gun at airportThere are some headlines that make you go "Wait, What?" This is certainly one of them. KIRO 7 in Seattle is reporting that NBA legend Bill Russell was cited Wednesday for bringing a gun into a prohibited area at Sea-Tac International Airport.

The gun was found in Russell's carry-on bag at a TSA security checkpoint. While guns are allowed on checked baggage if unloaded and declared at check-in, they are not allowed in any capacity in carry-on baggage.

Russell does have a permit for the gun. His background check was clear and he was released, according to an airport spokesman.

Whether we ever find out or not, there's probably some explanation. Maybe he just forgot the gun was in his bag, although how exactly does one forget where something like that is? Still, this was likely just a dumb, and odd, mistake, and we'll see what consequences Russell ends up facing.

Forgetting where one's gun is seems...uh, yeah. indecision

Well, it's not always in my purse, so if I put it there and come home, and then grab my purse on the way out of the door, it's still going to be in there. Sh** happens.

He probably did forget. I've forgotten mine was in my purse a few times and taken it in places I didn't intend. Plus, have you heard him speak? He's 100...and man, I love to hear him laugh.
