February has mercifully come to an end so we can finally start to enjoy sports again with March Madness on the horizon. Over these final two weeks of the college basketball season we'll be sizing up those teams on the bubble and let you determine who should be in or out.Up next: Kansas State Wildcats. Comfortably in two weeks ago, but now we can't be so sure.
Why they could get in
Michael Beasley - The selection committee would never admit to this, but having a player of his caliber makes the tournament more interesting and thus the Wildcats should get the benefit of the doubt on the bubble.
Good Wins - 84-75 vs Kansas, 84-82 at Oklahoma
3rd in Big XII - Again, the selection committee says they don't factor in conference alotments, but at least four teams from the conference will get in.
Strength of Schedule: 13 - Big bonus.
Why they would be left out
Lost 4 straight - Lost five out of their last 6 does not bode well. Fortunately, they have an easy finish against Iowa State and Colorado, but a loss could push them out.
Bad Losses - 77-87 vs George Mason, 64-71 at Nebraska
Overall Record: 17-10 - 20 wins will be needed despite the strong SOS.
Conclusion
They're in right now, but with their recent stretch of losing and Frank Martin in charge they are far from a lock. A loss this week and another one early in the Big XII tourney could knock them out, especially with a few lower seeds winning mid-major conferences which is bound to occur.
