NCAA Football Week 13 Live Thread
From OU-Texas Tech to OSU-Michigan To The Crapple Bowl [NCAA FB Live Thread]

The big rivalry games this week start off at 12:00 EST, with Michigan and Ohio State going at it. In this game, the big favorite has lost 6 of the last 7 times, when it was supposed to be a lopsided matchup. Can the Wolverines pull it off? Probably not, but the numbers say they can.

Here are the games of note: (all times EST)

12:00
West Virginia at Louisville (ESPN)
North Carolina State at #22 North Carolina
Michigan at #10 Ohio State (ABC)
Indiana at Purdue (ESPN2)

1:30
Citadel at #4 Florida

2:00
Washington at Washington State (FOX)

3:30
Stanford at California (ABC Regional)
Boston College at Wake Forest (ABC Regional)
#15 Michigan State at #8 Penn State (ABC Regional)
Air Force at #16 TCU

4:00
#9 Boise State at Nevada (ESPN 2)

6:00
#14 BYU at #7 Utah

7:00
#21 Oregon State at Arizona
#20 Pittsburgh at #19 Cincinnati (ESPN 2)

7:45
Florida State at #25 Maryland (ESPN)

8:00
#2 Texas Tech at #5 Oklahoma (ABC)

If you're a Michigan fan, then I'm almost sorry for the RichRod pictures. Almost.

And if you're watching these games, feel free to chat it up here, or on their respective game pages. And as always, don't forget to make your picks in our pick 'em section for the chance to win a bunch of fan points. Enjoy the games, and have a great weekend!

Standford is bringing the Axe back across the Bay to Berkeley for the game.  They will not be leaving with the Axe.  That'll be a long little trip home for the axeless Stanford.

GO BEARS!!! TAKE BACK THE AXE

I like Rich Rodriguez's attempt to channel Jerry Tarkanian in the picture.  The only difference is UNLV usually was winning during the towel chewing.  Rodriguez better figure it out.  Michigan won't put up with another season like this one.

How messed up is the ACC?  NC State is beating UNC 41-10 which will knock UNC out of BCS title contention.

Of course next week in the ACC it could be completely different. It is the league no one wants to win.

Cal Poly is at least decent.  They're 3rd in D1-AA.  Michigan just sucks....  I can't believe I'm trying to justify Cal Poly's talent or value as a team.

Also, why didn't this Penn State team show up the past two weeks?  This is the Penn State team that was a Top 5 team.

All I got to say is thank god for Michigan.  Thanks to them, Illinois is quietly going un-noticed by alot of people as a team that is really underachieving this year

Since I know you guys aren't SEC homers, let me pose this question to you.

Who has Florida beat exactly?

An overrated Georgia, an overrated LSU, and who else? The SEC is down this year and Florida is just beating a bunch of crappy teams big time, and the talking heads are falling head over heals for them because "They are dominating the SEC".

Am I right about this or way off base?

Nick, the answer to your question is pretty much no one.  Mizzou is better than both Georgia and LSU in my mind and they are a "nobody" this year in the Big 12.  That said, I think Florida is pretty damn good.  Their offense has been very overrated this year.  Florida's D has been dominant, but who knows if thats because the SEC is rather average this year or if its really that good.

Wait..which one was the question you pose? the latter?

You're right, they haven't beaten much, but they have beaten them all pretty damn convincingly...It's a crapshoot like it always is every year when trying to make a good bowl game being that the teams hadn't played eachother before..

It's educated guessing though seems to point that Florida is good enough to be in the top 5, maybe even NC talk.

God I hope so. 5 seconds left, ball on 35...and the kicker who was just short on a 49 yarder goes for a 53 yarder, everyone in the place is booing; and he misses it.

Only bad thing about ND loss. That means if Navy had finished the comeback, then a loss next week to USC would keep ND from a bowl. Now they'll probably be the first 6-6 team to make a New Years Day bowl.

VT has turned the ball over 4 times against Duke and is only down 3 -0?  Duke is brutal, but so are my Irish!  WTF!  They will be 6-6 heading into a bowl that they have less than 30% chance of winning they way they have played the last 4 weeks. I am not optimistic in anyway for ND during the bowl season.   VT just got a pick!  They are -3 on the turnover ratio so far.

Repeat my last comment, just insert Utah for Boise State.

That being said, I'm hoping BYU can win today and get Utah out of the conversation. Nothing against them I would just like to see more of the Big 12 in the BCS this year. 3 teams or bust!

Source
"No more than two teams from a conference may be selected, regardless of whether they are automatic qualifiers or at-large selections, unless two non-champions from the same conference are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the final BCS Standings."

I suppose this is possible, if OU beats Texas Tech, and then loses the Big XII championship game. Texas and Texas Tech could theoretically end up 1-2, and then the Big 12 champ would get in also. That would take some absolute craziness, though. Pretty much impossible at this point. So yeah, you're pretty much right.

Utah vs USC/ Ohio State is going to be a blowout.  The non-BCS conferences are very weak this year.
I'm not so sure. Utah's a complete team, I've watched them quite a bit this year. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them beat either of those teams. Everybody said the same stuff in 04 and they won in a blowout.

No I hate those douche bags big time. And this game is as far from boring as it could possibly be!

I didn't hear that in '04.  Not to mention that that '04 Pitt team was the worst BCS team ever.  The fact that Utah takes pride in that win is embarrassing to me and I have no affliation to Utah.

Considering they could theoretically end up playing someone like Boston College/Georgia Tech/Florida State, Cincinnati, Oregon State, etc, I don't think that another Utah BCS Bowl win is out of the question.

Well, If Oregon State makes it they will play Penn State.  However, yes, you are right, Utah will play another weak opponent.  This is why we need a playoff.  Utah might win another BCS game, but it will prove nothing.

Yeah... forgot about the  Rose Bowl. But yeah, the point is, there will be at least 2 other mediocre teams in BCS bowls that the Utes could probably beat up on.

Even though I generally rip on and doubt the mid-majors it disappoints me that they have no way to prove me and other doubters/haters wrong.  A win over the Big East or ACC champ proves nothing to me.  Hell, I'm pretty sure Wisconsin could win those conferences, but that means nothing.  Utah/Boise St/Ball State deserve a playoff where they could prove just how good they are.

...and Cincy storms the field afer beating Pitt... that was pathetic, especially seeing how the game wasn't over yet.

That's almost as bad as Wazzu storming the field after their win against Washington today..

I couldn't believe it..  Cincinatti was the better team, but I agree.  On the last play of the game, Pittsburgh crossed midfield and the ball carrier was only about 15 yards away from running into fans, and there were oranges being thrown on the field.  That was lame.
