According to ESPN, those are what the BCS standings would look like if they came out right now. Despite their one loss, Virginia Tech would be ranked above undefeated Texas, most likely thanks to Va Tech's ridiculously difficult early schedule.

Texas definitely needs a win this week against Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry, or they might actually dig themselves into a hole that they'll never be able to get out of, if they want to play for a National Championship this year. Most people think that they'll be able to win, and they're favored in the game, but a win over Oklahoma would be their signature victory so far this year.

The other classic matchup that will happen today is between USC and Notre Dame. This is a huge test for the Irish at home, and if they beat the Trojans, they have a legitimate chance to jump up into the top 15 and eventually play in a BCS bowl. USC, on the other hand, still has their eyes set on a National Championship, and they'll need to win out to make that happen.

Here's the schedule for this week's early big games:

12:00
Northwestern vs Michigan State [ESPN2]
#20 Oklahoma vs #3 Texas [ABC]
#11 Iowa vs Wisconsin [ESPN]
#7 Ohio State vs Purdue

3:30
California vs UCLA [ABC]
North Carolina State vs Boston College [ABC]
Texas Tech vs #15 Nebraska [ABC]
Minnesota vs #14 Penn State [ABC]
Arkansas vs #1 Florida [CBS]
#6 USC vs #25 Notre Dame [NBC]
#23 Houston vs Tulane

If a football giant loses, and no one watches the game, does it really happen?  Purdue leads Ohio State 16-7 early in the second half.

It might not last long, but I just wanted to use that line.

Even if Texas wins today, wouldnt a Virginia Tech win on the road over Georgia Tech still have the Hokies ahead of the Longhorns?

Wait, I thought you were complaining about Utah with their horrible schedule being undefeated and not getting in the championship game.

Bradford out... this does not look good for Oklahoma.

Well... in fairness, Texas' schedule has been just as weak so far.

Wisconsin is leading Iowa 10-0.  Hopefully, this means a January Bowl Game.

Wisconsin/Iowa 10-10 in the 3rd Quarter.  Another interception kills the Badgers.

ANOTHER turnover.  Geez.

I know Texas and Oklahoma both play great defense, but this is ridiculous.  One of these offenses needs to step up and act like they aren't scared.

Sloppy game between the Longhorns and the Sooners.  Neither team able to really captalize on the others mistakes so far.

Clemson is tearing Wake Forest a new one.  31-3 and they are just now starting the second half.

The sweatervests are struggling in West Lafayette.   Purdue opens the 2nd half with a touchdown, leads the Buckeyes 16-7

It's funny. When one team makes a mistake the other team does so almost immediately.

Wisky misses a 38 yard field goal... still tied with Iowa 10-10

This Texas/OU game sucks.

17-10 Iowa.  With a 10-0 1st quarter lead, Bielema went to the "wildcat" with an unproven quarterback for one series and our starter has barely completed a pass since.  You're hip Coach, but you changed the whole game with that gimmick.

Purdue with another touchdown... ESPN might want to start getting out the markers to change there mock BCS standings

Ohio State is killing themselves with turnovers and penalties.

Ohio State back in it 26-18. Good game!

Outside of the 35 yard run, Purdue is doing a great job of containing Pryor.  It also helps that the OSU offensive line is letting the Boilermakers do whatever they want up front

8 penalties, 5 turnovers and 5 sacks allowed are numbers that most teams wont overcome, even against a team like Purdue who is on a down year

Ohio State got flagged for a facemask. What a stupid, stupid penalty!

Somewhere along the way, OSU needs to figure out how to design an offense that actually plays to Terrelle Pryor's strengths.  To go along with that, Pryor needs to start showing more development on the field.  Bad offense or not, Pryor's inconsistencies and poor decision making are really hurting OSU.  Today, was the accumulation of all that with Pryor being responsible for 4 out of the 5 turnovers

Not a very impressive performance by the officals in the Arkansas/Florida game.  The home team got every call, and a little bit more.

It wasn't lucky though. Purdue clearly outplayed them. As a former Boilermaker I have to say it was a profound pleasure to watch.
