In a move that probably stuns you the NCAA has attempted to give more fans a worse experience in the name of the almighty dollar. Stunning. My apologies for not telling you to sit down first.
Normally when these huge football stadiums host regionals or Final Fours they will sit the court in the corner of the end, snug up against the stands on two sides. That gives a solid portion of fans a fair view of the court, but there's only one issue: it doesn't maximize total attendance.
So tonight at Reliant Stadium and Ford Field you'll see this set up with the court at the 50-yard line. This picture is taken in what would be a fairly decent seat ... FOR A FOOTBALL GAME.
This isn't the worst aspect of the new configuration. In an attempt to give the fans a better view of the court, they've raised the surface 27 inches off the ground. It's Minnesota's Williams Arena on steroids. In other words, a terrible idea.

Should we start the "Who's getting injured pool?" If you become upset tonight that your team isn't chasing after loose balls, keep in mind they're frightened of the drop off.
Chris Douglas-Roberts on the cliff:
"I'm definitely not jumping in the stands. I'm not even going to act like it. If it's going out of bounds and I can't get it, hey I'm not going to fake hustle and act like I'm diving for it."
Awesome. But hey, they put a carpet around the court. That should totally help.
