The Final is set and the Big East, who came into the tournament with seven teams, has lost all of them. UConn to Michigan State, and Villanova to North Carolina. The favored team is North Carolina, and personally, I think they will win, but what about them Spartans? If you read my last article, I said they wouldn't beat Louisville, none the less beat UConn. So they have defied my picks since the Elite 8 and now they are in the Finals.
The Tar Heels are an Elite team that has conquered teams like Oklahoma and a surprise Villanova, who I had losing to Duke in the Sweet 16. They also have failed to show up against Boston College while they were number one early in the season. They came from the Midwest that had 2 Oklahoma, 3 Syracuse, 4 Gonzaga, 5 Illinois, 6 Arizona State, 7 Clemson, 8 LSU, 9 Butler, 10 Michigan, 11 Temple, 12 Western Kentucky, 13 Akron, 14 S.F. Austin, 15 Morgan State, and 16 Radford. They defeated four of those 15, and beat them with ease. Tyler Hanbourgh and Tywon Lawson(Ty Lawson) are a great combo and they will be running it up the court non-stop straight at the Michigan State defense all night long and they wll prevail.
Michigan State is a great team beating 15 Robert Morris, 10 USC, 3 Kansas, and overall number one Louisville. The Spartans fought their way back from a 13 point defict against Kansas and lead most of the game against Louisville and Connecticut. Kalin Lucas scored 21, Raymar Morgan scored 18, and Sutan scored a disappointing four. Sutan was under my expectations getting into foul trouble early and was substituted for Idong Ibok who scored zero. But they got by UConn 82-73. If Suton plays like he played, Michigan State has a very slim chance at that long-awaited National Title. The only way they could win is an MVP performance by either Raymar Morgan or Kalin Lucas.
