It seems like it's been forever since the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. I know it has only been just a couple days, but when there are like 16 games per day for a whole weekend, and then 3-4 days of nothingness, it seems a bit barren.

At any rate, there some huge NCAA hoops action tonight, and I'm sure a lot of you will be glued to your television sets, much like myself.

Here's the schedule for tonight's games. All games are on CBS' regional coverage.

7:07 pm #5 Purdue vs #1 UConn

7:27 pm #4 Xavier vs #1 Pittsburgh

9:37 pm #3 Missouri vs #2 Memphis

9:57 pm #3 Villanova vs #2 Duke

If you're watching the game, this is the place to chat it up. Let us know who you think will win, who you're rooting for, and what you think of all the action.

Also, don't forget to make your picks, before it's too late. As always, enjoy the games!

With the weather that is in Oklahoma today, I have a weather map plastered in the bottom left corner. It sucks.

What I really hate is the fact that they are playing these games in football stadiums. It is retarded and completely kills any kind of atmosphere that there might be at the game.

We are going to get 6-9 inches of snow on Saturday here after rain all day today and tomorrow.

The first four minutes of this game will let us know something about both teams. Pitt seems to be playing very tight while Xavier realizes that no one picked them so if they just play, they will be fine.

At least in the first/second round sites, you'll get some fans that will travel and make it somewhat loud. These football arenas have ruined the Final Four.

If I was Sports Czar I'd make a rule that the Final Four must be played in an actual basketball arena.

Pitt is in trouble tonight.  They were getting their #$! kicked on the offensive boards before Blair picked up fouls.  Without Blair in the middle look for Xaiver to take advatange of the middle.  Xavier doesnt have to have a lead during the game, just stay close, and have a chance to win it in the end.  All that matters is the final score.

3/26/09

Blair only has 1 foul so far.

I was at the Dome last Friday, and while it does sure feel empty if you're on the concourses looking in, but if you're sitting in your seat, watching the games intently, it felt no different than any other college basketball game I've been to (only at the Barn).

Every game Pitt lost this year, Blair was in foul trouble, and they got beat when teams attacked the middle to get Blair into foul trouble.  If Xavier keeps crashing the boards, then they have a great shot at getting Blair into foul trouble.

I was at the Dome for the Sweet 16/Elite 8 three years ago.  Watching the game there was fine.  I had no issues seeing the game or anything and had a good time.  There's just no way to create an atmosphere when four different fan bases plus a whole bunch of indifferent fans are there.  On top of that, the place is too spread out.  Its just a weird environment.  Still fun, but weird.

I dont think is totally correct.  I am in NJ, and I am recieving the Xavier vs. Pitt game.  However, I live in the suburbs of Philly, about 10 minutes from the city.

Purdue just can't get lay-ups to fall..They've had enough chances to be leading by 7 at this point...and with the start of this game and their failure to shoot the ball - that's pretty embarrassing for UConn.

So when UConn wins this year, and they will, and then Calhoun has 3 titles and has won just as much as Duke, is everyone gonna start hating on UConn? I'd like to see that, but it will never happen.

Yep, Big East is having their year this year. That is for sure. I'd like to say we'll see you next year, but with all the ACC guys that are gonna jump to the NBA.... who knows what'll happen next year. I'm sure the Big East will still be great.

Yep, they are hated for their suckiness. Go ahead, rip away. 30 wins, ACC Champs and a sweet 16 appearance is another HORRIBLE year for Duke and I truly mean that. At least Paulus is gone now, hopefully that signals better times are coming. At least I've got USA vs El Salvador to look forward to.

No, actually I think Mike's serious about that, Cory.  It's the Duke brand, and the way their basketball program is force-fed to the public that's the problem.  You can't take away the success and the national championships, but Coach K is not above the game.  You might think that to watch a Vitale/Mike Patrick telecast.  The Duke brand wears thin.

I'm not saying that you are a part of this but Duke is hated for their fans and media coverage.  Duke has lost to a lower seed for 6 straight years now, but that'll be conveniently ignored by ESPN and most of Duke's fans.

Sure, it is the Duke brand. I'm sure if Duke lost 30 games a year, like they do in football, there would be absolutely no hate for their brand. Duke has won 3 titles in what, 30 years? That is much less than the Yankees, or the Cowboys, or Steelers, or numerous other teams for that matter. Yet Duke is hated SO much more than any other team. No big deal, I'm used to it at this point. The simple fact is that just like Stern, Limbaugh, the Yankees, what have you, when Duke is on TV people watch, haters and fans alike. As long as people keep watching the games, ESPN and others will keep putting them on. If you really hate Duke that much and the brand is so "thin" then just stop watching the games. When the ratings go down, the Patrick's and Vitale's of the world won't be brodcasting them anymore.

You're right about the cheating... except for the fact that Jim Valvano was exposed for recruiting violations at North Carolina St.  That doesn't take away the tragedy of his death, but the creation of Jim Valvano as a kind of God figure is another ESPN distortion (because of course, Vitale loved Valvano).  Valvano was like Calipari.

I don't think most fans will ignore it, I know I won't. And as far as it being ignored by ESPN, I watched EVERY Duke game this year and there wasn't one time I didn't hear the commentators mention that Duke had gone out in the first round earlly rounds for the last two years in a row. ESPN commentators mentioned plenty of times this year that some of the luster was gone off the Duke program. If you want to get on the network commentators for anything, I'd say it would be the amount of times they said how well Coach K had did with Team USA and how many times they showed his pic with all the medals on his neck. But if you aren't hearing how many times they are saying that Duke didn't perform in the torney for the past two (now three) years then you need to clean some of the hate outta your ears because it definitely came up plenty this year and I'm sure it will next year as well. And every other year until either Coach K is gone or until Duke makes the final four again.

Understood, but there is a HUGE difference between Coach K and Cal. Coach K does whine, in my opinion not more than other great coaches (like Phil Jackson, for example, who whines every time the Lakers don't get playoff calls). But that is a stretch to put him in the same sentence as Cal who is as slimy a cheater as Tark ever was.

Don't worry about me.  I actually don't watch the ESPN Duke telecasts.  I can't stomach it.  It also makes no difference, because it's now been a long time since Duke went deep into the tournament.  They're a media creation.  They play a European style game of "around the world," and when their 3-pointers don't go down (which happens every year in March), they're done.

Agreed 100% with that statment. But that shouldn't take away from the fact that Coach K has done a lot to fight cancer, and that is ultimately a good thing in my opinion. My whole argument was that you can dislike Coach K, but to put him in the same sentence (or realm) as guys like Coach Cal is not cool when you compare the two. I mean, come on, really? Coach K and Calapari? Couldn't be two more different ends of the coaching spectrum.

Which is why I said years ago that Coach K should have taken the Lakers job and let someone else take charge of the Devils that might get back to playing the kind of game that wins in the US instead of playing the world game that seemingly only wins in the ACC tournament and in the Olympics.

Yeah, that's fair.  I think you're right.

I think Coach K should now publically apologize to President Obama since the President was right about how they couldn't hang with Pi...oh that's right, they couldn't even get to the regional final to face Pitt, that means Obama gave them a bit too much credit.

As I said in the elite 8 prediction poll, if Villanova beat Duke, it would be an upset in terms of seeding only.

Since this is a basketball thread, you probably didn't need to come in here and comment about how you think soccer is better since everyone who was commenting here while watching the BASKETBALL games.

So when UConn wins this year, and they will, and then Calhoun has 3 titles and has won just as much as Duke, is everyone gonna start hating on UConn? I'd like to see that, but it will never happen.
and when uconn does lose like they will to  missouri they will be wishing they were north carolina cuttin down  the nets

Read my post directly above yours.  We wouldn't come into a blog of yours that's a live thread of a soccer game and say "haha, soccer sucks."  So please respect the basketball fans.
