Who Will Take On The Colts In The Super Bowl? [NFC Championship Live Thread]

1/24/10 in NFL   |   Pat   |   5229 respect

Drew Brees and the Saints have the chance to send another old man QB off into the sunset, a week after beating Kurt Warner and the Arizona Cardinals. Brett Favre and the Vikings are coming into the Superdome to try to knock off the #1 seeded Saints.

56% picked the Saints to win, and if they do, it will have to come with a big game from Brees. He has been their bread and butter all year, and he has torched some very good defenses.

On the other side of the ball, Favre and the Vikings have also made some good teams look bad, and they have a great multi-dimensional offense with Favre throwing to Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin, and Adrian Peterson running the ball.

Personally, I'm still convinced that Brett Favre will cost the Vikings the game with some key interceptions, but hey... maybe he'll have a good game. Stranger things have happened.

The game starts at 6:40 pm EST, and it's on FOX. If you're watching, chat it up here all night. As always, enjoy the game!

Childress certainly didn't help by settling for a 50+ yard field goal.

Adrian Peterson just said that his Vikings gave the game to the Saints by turning the ball over so often.  I was watching the game that he was playing in and it's for sure that the Vikings didn't give the Saints diddly-squat--the Saints took the ball from the Vikings repeatedly, with Saints fists pounding the ball out of the arms of Vikings running backs and receivers, and Saints arms cradling in Brett Favre-thrown interceptions.

A job well done, Saints!  May you do an even better job on the Colts in two weeks!!

That was not a penalty, and hasn't been called all season, that wasn't a "driving" hit at all.

Add to that how Aikman pointed out that "well when a QB leaves his feet and gets hit as he releases the ball, of course he's going to get driven to the ground like that."

1/24/10   |   Chief_aka_James   |   3292 respect

You can't drive the QB into the turf? It was a wrap-up and clean tackle. Just like Aikman said, it's what is TAUGHT to pop-warner kids, and that was a perfectly executed tackle and was initiated BEFORE the ball was even out of Brett's hand. That was not a penalty, and hasn't been called all season, that wasn't a "driving" hit at all.
