At the time of that piece, not one team in the division had a winning record, they were all dreadful on defense, they were all inconsistent and in general, they were looked at as non-factors not only in the NFC, but in the league in general.

Fast forward a month later and absolutely nothing has changed when it comes to this division. Well, may be just one thing is different and that is that the division is now being referred to as the NFC "Least".

With all of that in mind, let's take a look at why this division is the weak link in the National Football League.

Not One Winning Record
One of the reasons why this division is the worst in football is that not one team has a winning record.

Combined, the four teams are 11-20 this season. Only the Dallas Cowboys have a .500 record at 4-4 while the Philadelphia Eagles (two games under), Washington Redskins (three games under) and New York Giants (four games under) are all well under .500 this season.

It is pretty hard to believe at this point that one team from this division will actually be in the postseason this year. With that said, a rule is a rule and one team from this division will be lucky enough to represent the NFC "Least" in the postseason.

Where is the Defense?
Another reason why this division is so bad is because of each team's lackluster defense.

The Redskins have the second worst defense in the league this season as they have allowed 229 points against this season. Right behind them are the Giants as they have allowed 223 points against this season.

In fact, the only team in the division that has yet to allow 200 points are the Cowboys (186), which is surprising given the amount of high-scoring games they have been involved with this season. No matter how one looks at it, this division has proven to be an easy one to get points against.

No Consistency
None of the teams in this division have played consistently enough to win football games.

Each club this season has shown flashes of brilliance. They have played in games where they seem to have everything together and play like they are a tough team to beat.

At other times, they have lived up to the NFC "Least" name and have been downright dreadful. With an 11-20 combined record, it is easy to see that the only consistent thing this division has going for them is losing football games.

Still Up For Grabs
Even though this division is absolutely awful this year, it is still up for grabs as all four teams have a chance to win it.

It would be nice to see one team break through and do so with a consistent winning-brand of football. It would be nice to see one team do it with a respectable winning record.
