For starters, they've made it this far undefeated so we might as well have an extremely interesting Super Bowl with a great deal of hype assuming the Packers join the party. Brady vs Favre. Wrap your minds around that.
Above that, the overwhelming reason to root against the Chargers is the recent behavior of their tool under center, Philip Rivers. Whether it's talking trash to opposing quarterbacks or opposing fans, his act is unbecoming and growing old. Particularly, when you're on the bench watching your backup manufacture a game winning drive to reach the Conference Championship.
There's only two reasons to hate the Patriots and neither are all that logical. Either you hate Bill Belichick and the way he carries himself (which is intended on his part) or their amazing success frustrates (read: jealous) you to no end. The reality is that Patriots are all pretty good people aside from Rodney Harrison. Tom Brady is the one QB that would have every excuse to run about pounding his chest, telling everyone how good he is. Instead, he takes care of his business and goes home to Giselle.
Philip, it's time to grow up. At the very least, limit your trash to the field. Telling the fans what a badass you are will only turn around and bite you in the ass. Find me one star quarterback who uses his mouth more than his arm? Grow up, please, because I don't anticipate rooting for the Patriots on many more occasions.
Who are your cheering for this weekend? Do you want to see perfection or are you going for the underdogs?
