NFL Divisional Round Picks: Titans vs Ravens, Panthers vs Cardinals, Giants vs Eagles, Steelers vs Chargers
There's Chalk All Over The Place During Divisional Round Weekend [NFL Picks]
Last week's games didn't exactly go as planned, and my early prediction of a Colts-Panthers Super Bowl has already fallen by the wayside. I was 1-3 in the Wild Card round, and the FanIQ consensus only went 2-2.

We'll try to do a little better this week, and hopefully we can nail down the Conference Championship matchups.

Without further ado, here are the games for this weekend:

Baltimore Ravens at Tennessee Titans
Saturday, January 10
4:30 pm EST, CBS

The Titans and Ravens already played once this year, and it resulted in a defensive struggle, with the Titans coming out on top 13-10.

This game should be pretty similar, as both defenses are among the best in the game. My pick: Titans 16, Ravens 13

58% of FanIQ picked the Titans to win.

Arizona Cardinals at Carolina Panthers
Saturday, January 10
8:00 pm EST, FOX

The Cardinals are coming off a solid win against the Falcons, but the Panthers are simply a better team than the Falcons. While they don't always show it, the Panthers have the ability to beat any team in the league. In Week 16, they lost 34-28 in overtime to the Giants, even though DeAngelo Williams was pretty much the only one on the team who had a good game. If the whole team had stepped up just a little bit, they could have dominated.

The Cardinals balance on offense is the key to their success. Last week against the Falcons, they opened up the play action pass with some great runs by Edgerrin James. At the end of the year, when they weren't getting any production from their running game, and it showed up on the scoreboard. My pick: Panthers 31, Cardinals 17

82% of FanIQ picked the Panthers to win.

Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants
Sunday, January 11
1:00 pm EST, FOX

Brandon Jacobs is back, and by all accounts, he has been practicing with almost TOO much intensity. He's pumped up for this game, and he's good enough that he's able to make a difference. Among the so-called experts, the Eagles are a trendy pick, and Donovan McNabb was even featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated. However, Jacobs might make the difference in this one.

The Giants offense has looked pretty solid when he was out, but he offers a bit more than their combo of Ahmad Bradshaw and Derrick Ward. I think that one more fresh set of legs will go a long way against a tough Eagles defense. My pick: Giants 17, Eagles 16

67% of FanIQ picked the Giants to win.

San Diego Chargers at Pittsburgh Steelers
Sunday, January 11
4:20 pm EST, CBS

Ben Roethlisberger's status could have some serious influence in this one. With a banged up backfield, the Steelers will have to rely heavily on their defense to make up for their rather mediocre offense.

The Chargers will have to do without LaDainian Tomlinson again. If Darren Sproles plays as well as he did last week, there will be no problem. Unfortunately for the Chargers, they're not playing the Colts again. The Steelers have a MUCH better defense, and should have little trouble containing Sproles. Philip Rivers may have to try to exploit them through the air.

I think that the Steelers defense might actually outscore their offense in this one, and they will need it. My pick: Steelers 20, Chargers 17

78% of FanIQ picked the Steelers to win.

Feel free to make your picks in the comment section, or bash mine. Or, bash the fact that I went with the favorite in every game. I hate when people do that, but that's just how I see it this week. Let's hear it!

I was 1-3 last week as well, so I doubt I do any better this time around.

Man, I really hope the Chargers pull it off, and the Ravens do as well.

I've never been to an AFC Championship game, and I'd love to go to one.

I went 1-3 also, picking PHI over MIN correctly.

I chose TEN, PHI, CAR, PIT this time around.  I'll probably end up taking a bath on that PHI pick depending on Westbrook's status.  Ah well.

I'm actually rooting for the Eagles...This is a rivalry game so anything can happen, and the Eagles are playing well! I'll be pumped if they can pull off the road victory!!! Thanks, and good luck to your team as well!!

OK, let's see how close I can get:

Tennessee 19 Baltimore 16
- In the hardest hitting game of the year, the 1-2 punch at RB for Tenn eventually breaks through the Balt defense.     Chris Johnson will make a big run 1/2 through the 4th quarter, and White punches it in to finally make it into the end zone after 4 Bironas FG's, as Tenn comes back for a wild win.     Flacco's hail-mary gets tipped around and falls harmlessly at the buzzer

Carolina 34   Arizona 17
- I say Arizona jumps out to a 7-0 lead, as Fitzgerald makes a ridiculous play.     But Carolina just keeps pounding the ball on the ground, and Willians & Stewart eventually have their way through the AZ defense.    Warner throws 3 2nd have picks, and Carolina gets almost 40 minutes possession to the win

NY Giants 20  Philadelphia 17
- Perhaps the hardest game to figure out.     Cases can be made for either team.    So, I go with the home team, in a game that is as close to a toss-up as I can see.    Manning has a solid game, going 18 for 34, but without Burress the Phil secondary is all over the Giant receivers.    Westbrook keeps Phil in the game, but a late FG (less than a minute left) wins it for the G-Men

Pittsburgh 30  San Diego 20
- Like Arizona, I think SD will start out hot, leading at the end of the 1st Q 10-3.     Then, Pitt figures out how best to defend Sproles, and Rivers will get impatient and throw a couple of costly int's.     Big Ben is not great, maybe 21 for 36, but efficient, and the defense makes a huge play in the 3rd quarter to turn the game around.   A late TD for SD makes the score close, but Pitt pretty much dominates.

Then again, I may be way off too.............................

Ravens, Steelers, Eagles and Panthers. I irrationally believe in Eagles. Chargers will have a tough snow game, their win is unlikely.

Ravens win. If Mawae does not play for the Titans, as it appears, the Raven Defense gets even better. Collins just might spend more time picking himself up off the ground and/or running for his life. No NFL team has rushed for more than 100 yards on the Ravens in 2 years, and it won't start now. Baltimore has way too much Defense for the Titans, and will get field position or turnovers to make a short field for their offense. And I can't stand the Ravens, so I will have to suffer this along with the Titans fans.
Panthers win, plain and simple. Arizona cannot win on the East Coast, plain and simple. Carolina is rested, and healthy, plain and simple. Carolina is a better all around team, plain and simple. Get my drift?
Flip a coin on the Eagles/Giants game. Philly is the hottest team in the NFL right now, (Sorry SD). They have shown they can win vs the Giants, and do it in the Meadowlands. They stopped the Earth, Wind and Fire running back tandem of the Giants earlier this season, and should do so again, forcing Eli to make plays. He'll make some, but not enough, and McNabb, Westbrook and company will pull out a squeaker.
Pittsburgh will throttle Rivers as they did earlier this season. I expect the Steelers to try to pound the ball on the ground, and try to wear the Chargers down. The emotional roller coaster the Chargers have been on comes to an end, as Pittsburgh wins going away.

Went 3-1 last week and think this week is easier: Home teams win: Steelers, Panthers, Titans and G-Men. /////////////////////////// /////Eagles have a chance to fashion the upset.

Ravens, Giants, Panthers, and Steelers, followed by the Steelers beating Baltimore next week for the 3rd time this year.
