NFL Draft: What Should Miami Dolphins Do With No. 1 Pick?
10 days away from the NFL Draft and I'm not sure anyone knows which way the Miami Dolphins are leaning. I doubt they do, either, with a myriad of acceptable options.

Bad for them, good for us.

I can't remember being this clueless as to the order of the Top 10 picks as I am this year. If a guy isn't drafted first, he's got just as likely a chance of being the 2nd pick as the 6th.

You can never be to sure, but the Dolphins brass is making it seem like the decision is down to the Longs - defensive end Chris and offensive tackle Jake. I'm not sure you can go wrong either way. It's my belief you always draft a lineman with the first overall pick. The Adrian Peterson's, LaDainian Tomlinson's and Eli Manning's of the world only win you games because the defensive and offensive lines put the team in position to succeed.

I'm certain Bill Parcells operates with that general train of thought and thus he's eliminated Darren McFadden and Matt Ryan from the equation.

Glenn Dorsey was my choice earlier this winter and he'll remain my pick today. Leg concerns or not, all he did with a bum extremity was knock offensive lineman on their ass. You stop the run immediately with Dorsey on your team.

Who do you think the Dolphins should draft? Or should they just trade down?

I don't think they'd be able to trade down if they wanted to.  They should pick either Glenn Dorsey or Jake Long IMO.  Really, anyone is a good pick except for any QB and McFadden for their situation.

Keep it. I say go with either Long or Ryan.

Next to getting this whole "uncapped year" & "work stoppage" nonsense dealt with the NFL has to have a rookie cap. The amount of guaranteed money (signing bonuses and guaranteed years and so on) a player who has not played a down is so out of whack that Haliburton thinks it is out of line.

my guess is Jake Long, if not then either Gholsten or Chris Long.

I am fairly certain it will not be Dorsey as he does not fit the 3-4 defense that Parcells likes to run

Why so?  A big defensive tackle could jump start that defense.  What makes you think he'll be a bust?  (Or do you just think they should look elsewhere needs-wise?)

Ah, I see.

Really, that team has an unlimited amount of needs.  Their weakest position is actually probably in their secondary, but there is no DB worth a #1 pick.  As CF said above though, it starts with the lines, and I don't think you really go wrong with an OL or DL pick.  (Although I'm not sure D-end is as good of a pick as D-tackle)
