NFL FanIQ & A: Talking San Francisco 49ers with WhoDey
READ MORE:
Welcome to the latest edition of NFL FanIQ & A.  Pre-Season will start in less than a week, so it's time to get the rest of the teams out of the way.  If you would like to be interviewed for your favorite NFL team contact Nate.  Today we will be talking with WhoDey about the San Francisco 49ers...

Nate: The 49ers are being touted as this season's team to watch, and have been very productive in the off season. Can you go over some of the moves they have made in how that's going to help them in the coming season?

Justin: Well, I definitely agree they are a team to watch. I have the Rams winning the division with the 49ers in 2nd with a wild card bid. But I think the biggest off season move was their first round draft pick, Patrick Willis from Mississippi, with what I believe was the 11th pick. He is an all around great defensive player, and should help stabilize the 49ers defense. And another great thing, is the 49ers are going into training camp with ALL 9 of their draft picks signed.

Norv Turner left this off season to be the head coach of the San Diego Chargers. A move that will leave Alex Smith having to learn a new offensive scheme. How will this effect him, and what can we expect from the new 49ers offensive coordinator?

Well, Alex Smith will have to get adjusted to a new scheme and all, but his career is going way up the hill, and I still think that he can get used to it. It took him, 2 years I think, to get completely used to this one, and now with his more matured football mind, he should be able to be ready by Week 1. They don't have TOO tough of a schedule from what it looks like to me, so I think that he will be fine. And he plays Arizona Week 1 to boost his confidence.

Frank Gore had an incredible break out season last year. Should we be expecting to see more of the same from him? And what will the new offensive coach do to help him improve on his numbers?

Frank Gore is an absolute beast. He will demolish last years numbers and run for 1700+ yards and 24+ TD's. He will lead the 49ers into the playoffs. He is a strong runner, who knows how to run the right way.

What holes, after this off season, are left to be filled, and what are some of the question marks heading into this season?

One of the major concerns for San Fran next year is the WR's. Can they compete with the top notch corners? If they can somehow trade for, or pick up some good WR's this season or the next off season, they will be lethal.

Antonio Bryant was about the only big name WR for the 49ers last season, but had several off the field issues and a few on the field as well. Will he get picked up by another team, and who has the 49ers got to replace him?

I think a team desperate enough for a WR will pick him up, but like I said earlier, their WR's suck. So I don't know if anyone can replace him, but they can try.

Earlier you said the 49ers would be able to make it to the playoffs on basically Frank Gore's shoulders. Though it seems Frank Gore is the only offensive weapon the 49ers have. How will the 49ers be able to compensate for a poor receiving game with out over exposing the running back?

They still have the occasional Alex Smith to Eric Johnson. And Alex Smith will turn into a "Tom Brady type" to get the receivers to learn. But Eric Johnson should be a big threat this year.

The 49ers did pick up WR Jason Hill in the draft, in I believe it was the 3rd round. Can he be an effective fixture on the offense right away, and help solve some of their Receiving woes?

Well, anyone could help right now. I don't know if he's going to be a huge threat, but he definitely will help.

Alright, in case anyone hasn't heard former 49ers coach, and Creator of the West Coast Offense Bill Walsh past away yesterday of Leukemia. What are your thoughts on this Justin?

I think this is an absolute shame. He was a great man, and a great football coach. So many amazing sports people have died in the last couple years, and it is just so sad to see this, but my prayers go out to his family.

Alright well that's all the questions I have. Thanks for the interview Justin. I'll leave you with the last word.

10-6, NFC wild card. Win first game. Lose in the next. Thanks Nate!

"They still have the occasional Alex Smith to Eric Johnson .... But Eric Johnson should be a big threat this year."

Eric Johnson is no longer a member of the 49ers, he is now a Saint.  Vernon Davis has the ability to be a major weapon in this offense.  Nolan Drafted him 6th in last years draft because he was the best receiving threat in the draft.  He is bigger then a SS and faster then most OLBs.  He will be hard to match up with and will open up the field for our other receivers.
