Fantasy footballers, all of you, have had some anxious moments over the last week with dirty rumors that Tom Brady might be out for week one and Brady Quinn would be starting for Cleveland. Fortunately, neither are true. With the NFL injury report coming into focus today, here's the most important news from a fantasy football perspective, because that's all we really care about, right?
Not that you had any doubt, but Peyton Manning will start Sunday night against Chicago. I wouldn't expect huge numbers, but if you have Peyton as your QB, you likely don't have a better option behind him. Keep in mind starting center Jeff Saturday is out for several weeks, if not months. I don't expect the passing game to be that efficient.
Despite conflicting reports, Tom Brady is definitely playing Sunday. All this confusion is just Belispeak. He's obviously not 100%, but when you have Randy Moss, who needs to be. It's the Chiefs on the other side of the field, so we'd obviously start him without hesitation and enjoy a solid 20+ point performance.
Don't worry, Brady Quinn isn't starting Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. I know how badly you wanted to see that happen. Derek Anderson practiced Monday and should be set to go, following a preseason concussion. Facing the 'Boys D, I'm not sure I'd start Anderson without seeing him play at least once. Hopefully you have another option.
Matt Hasselbeck declared himself ready to go Sunday at Buffalo. I think he's still a risky start, but you know Holmgren will throw it around and because he's proven himself, unlike Anderson, I'd start him.
Joe Flacco will start for Baltimore. This isn't really injury news, not for Flacco at least, but rookie gets the start thanks to Troy Smith battling a viral infection and Kyle Boller battling sucking. Not that I need to tell you this, but don't start Flacco. Not even against the Bengals.
Fantasy football start / sit advice coming tomorrow.
