As the NFL season has already reached its halfway point (already?), let's take a look at what some teams have done so far in comparison to what we thought they would do. Also, we'll take a look at some players who've been better than advertised, and some who've sucked majorly for their teams. In this post, we'll look at the AFC
New England Patriots. Record: 9-0. FanIQ's Preseason Pick: 14-2.
The Good: Everything except the punter, Chris Hanson. The offense has been unstoppable, and the D has been very good as well.
The Bad: Chris Hanson.
The Future?: On paper, the Patriots are better than each of their remaining teams. The ones that are the biggest threat are the Giants in week 17 (when NE may rest players) along with the Steelers. It sure looks like they can go unbeaten, but it just doesn't happen. I say they'll lose once along the way, and finish 15-1.
Buffalo Bills. Record: 4-4. FanIQ's Preseason Pick: 5-11
The Good: They share a division with the Dolphins and Jets. And they haven't turned the ball almost at all, they have a turnover difference of +7.
The Bad: They just can not score points to save their lives. Plus the D isn't that great.
The Future?: They play the Dolphins twice, that's a good thing. But their other games just don't appear that winnable. Patriots, Redskins, Jaguars, Giants, Browns and Eagles. That's a stretch that looks pretty tough. I think they'll only manage two wins in their final 8, and finish 6-10.
New York Jets. Record: 1-8. FanIQ's Preseason Pick: 11-5
The Good: Ummmm....
The Bad: No defense has allowed more rushing yards, and the pass D is pretty bad too. Offense, especially the running game, is pretty bad as well.
The Future?:Their final 7 games look pretty tough minus the Dolphins. Steelers, Cowboys, Browns, Patriot, Titans, Chiefs? Yikes. They'll be lucky to win 2, and I think they only manage one, finishing a terrible 2-14.
Miami Dolphins. Record: 0-8. FanIQ's Preseason Pick: 6-10
The Good: Ronnie Brown, and then he got hurt.
The Bad: Pretty much everything else. They can't get takeaways, and their turnover difference is -8.
The Future?: The Dolphins have at least been close in some games, so they might have a chance. Jets, Bills, Eagles, Bengals are all games they have some sort of shot in. I'll say they win 2 of their final 8, and finish 2-14.
How do you think this awful division (and the Patriots) will finish?
