As the NFL season has already reached its halfway point (already?), let's take a look at what some teams have done so far in comparison to what we thought they would do. Also, we'll take a look at some players who've been better than advertised, and some who've sucked majorly for their teams. In this post, we look at the AFC North.
Pittsburgh Steelers. Record: 6-2 FanIQ's Preseason Pick: 11-5
The Good: Defense, they've allowed less than any other team by a pretty good margin. They're first in fewest passing yards allowed, and 4th in rushing yards. Plus, the offense has been solid, 2nd in rushing yards per game, and only the Patriots have more passing TD's.
The Bad: Despite this, they've lost to the Cardinals and Broncos.
The Future?: Having Miami, the Jets, and St. Louis on your schedule is always nice. They appear better than each of their division rivals, who they still have to play one more time. New England and Jacksonville won't be easy. I think they can win as many as 7, but I think ultimately they'll only win 6, giving them a pretty good 12-4 record.
Cleveland Browns. Record: 5-3. FanIQ's Preseason Pick: 3-13.
The Good: They've had one of the higher scoring offenses. Derek Anderson to Braylon Edwards has been automatic, and Joe Thomas and Eric Steinbach have apprently fixed that line.
The Bad: Defense. Only the Bengals and Dolphins have allowed more points than them.
The Future?: They don't have the toughest schedule. Texans, Cardinals, Jets, Bills, Bengals, 49ers all seem like games they have a chance in. The other two are the Steelers and Ravens. I think they'll go .500 in the stretch, and finish with a 9-7 record. (Who would've thunk it?)
Baltimore Ravens. Record: 4-4. FanIQ's Preseason Pick: 11-5
The Good: No team is allowing fewer yards per run. Their D is still fairly good.
The Bad: Their offense is "Sofa King" terrible. Not many teams have done worse offensively. They just can't score points to save their lives.
The Future?: They have the Bengals, Browns, and Dolphins, 3 games they COULD win. But the other 5; Steelers, Patriots, Colts, Chargers, Seahawks, all don't seem very likely. I think they only can win 3 games, and finish the year at 7-9.
Cincinnati Bengals. Record: 2-6. FanIQ's Preseason Pick: 13-3.
The Good: They still have a great passing game.
The Bad: A struggling running game, and a PATHETIC defense. They're tied for NFL worst in points allowed (with Miami). They can't do "diddly poo" defensively.
The Future?: Having the Rams and Dolphins is nice, cause they should definitely win those two games. The 49ers definitely look beatable as well, and I think they have a shot against the Cardinals. Steelers, Titans, Ravens, Browns don't look that fun. But I believe they can go .500 in the final stretch, and finish the year at 6-10.
What do you believe the teams of the AFC North will do in the 2nd half?
