As the NFL season has already reached its halfway point (already?), let's take a look at what some teams have done so far in comparison to what we thought they would do. Also, we'll take a look at some players who've been better than advertised, and some who've sucked majorly for their teams. In the final of the looks, we tackle the AFC South.
Indianapolis Colts. Record: 7-1. FanIQ's Preseason Pick: 14-2
The Good: Only Tennessee and Pittsburgh have allowed fewer points, and only Dallas and New England have scored more points. They're also tied for the best turnover difference with NE (+11)
The Bad: Injuries, they've been hit with a lot of them.
The Future?: Atlanta and Oakland should both be wins. They still have all 3 division rivals, but all of those games are at Indy. Baltimore, San Diego, and the Chiefs are their other 3. I think it's very possible for them to go 8-0 in this stretch, but I think they'll lose one along the way, and finish the year with a 14-2 record.
Tennessee Titans Record: 6-2. FanIQ's Preseason Pick: 6-10.
The Good: Only the Steelers have allowed fewer points. The Titans defense has been beastly, and they have a solid running game.
The Bad: The passing game is really, really bad, and they've got 19 giveaways, among the worst in football.
The Future?: Houston, Jets, Cincy, and Denver all seem like games they have a good shot at winning. Jaguars and Chargers at home aren't easy, and neither are KC and Indy on the road. I think they only go .500 in the final stretch, and end up 10-6.
Jacksonville Jaguars Record: 5-3. FanIQ's Preseason Pick: 9-7
The Good: They haven't turned the ball over much, the running game has been solid, and they haven't allowed too many points.
The Bad: They've allowed a ton of passing yards, and don't have many points at all from their offense.
The Future?: Buffalo, Carolina, Oakland, and Houston all look like games they can win. Titans, Chargers, Colts, Steelers aren't going to be as easy. I think they will win 5 of their remaining 8 however, and finish the season at 10-6.
Houston Texans Record: 4-5. FanIQ's Preseason Pick: 5-11.
The Good: They've scored a pretty good amount of points, and despite injuries have had a solid passing game.
The Bad: The running game has been inconsistent, and their defense has been not so good, as they've allowed over 200 points already.
The Future?: Saints and Browns will both be shootouts, that the Texans may not be able to win. Titans, Bucs, and Jags will play tough D, the Colts are never easy, and then there is the Broncos. I honestly don't see them going over .500 in their final 7, and I think they'll finish the year at 7-9.
What do you think will happen in the NFL's toughest division?
