NFL Midseason Recap: The NFC West
READ MORE:
As the NFL season has already reached its halfway point (already?), let's take a look at what some teams have done so far in comparison to what we thought they would do.  Also, we'll take a look at some players who've been better than advertised, and some who've sucked majorly for their teams.

In this post we look at the NFC West.

Seattle Seahawks.  Record: 4-4.  FanIQ's Preseason Pick: 8-8

The Good: Only the Buccaneers defense has allowed fewer points per game amongst NFC teams.  And they have a very good turnover difference of +6.

The Bad: Despite this, they're still only 4-4.  The offense, namely the running game has been pretty bad.  A lot of that is Shaun Alexander, a lot of that is the offensive line.

The Future?:  Having the 49ers, Falcons, and Rams still on your schedule is convenient, because that's 3 games they SHOULD win.  Carolina, Arizona, Baltimore, Chicago, and Philly aren't easy wins, but none of those teams really has much of an advantage.  I think they'll win 6 of these 8 games, and end up finishing 10-6.

Arizona Cardinals
.  Record: 3-5.  FanIQ's Preseason Pick: 8-8

The Good: Their D is actually in the top 10 in fewest passing yards allowed per game.

The Bad: They have the worst turnover difference in the NFL, -9, and haven't scored too many points offensively.

The Future?:  Ending the year with the Rams and Falcons is convenient.  San Fran and Cincy are winnable games since both are struggling, but the other 4 games don't seem like they'll win to me.  (Saints, Browns, Lions, Seahawks)  I think they win 3 of their final 8, and finish 6-10.

San Francisco 49ers.  Record: 2-6.  FanIQ's Preseason Pick: 9-7.

The Good: Patrick Willis and Andy Lee.

The Bad: Everything else.  That offense is pretty pathetic, and their supposedly "great" defense has allowed the 2nd most points amongst NFC teams.

The Future?: The way this team is playing, the only teams on their schedule that are winnable are the Rams and Bengals.  And even the Bengals seem tough.  Arizona and Minny are really their other "chances".  I think the 49ers win 2 of the final 8, and finish a dismal 4-12.

St. Louis Rams.  Record: 0-8.  FanIQ's Preseason Pick: 11-5.

The Good: Torry Holt.

The Bad: Everything else.  No team in the whole NFL has scored fewer points, and no NFC team has allowed more.

The Future?: This team seems bad enough to go winless, but it doesn't happen.  With Arizona, San Fran, Atlanta, and Cincy all on their schedule, I think they'll be able to steal two wins and finish the year a "respectable" 2-14.

What do you believe will happen in what appears to be the NFL's worst division?

Up next, we start the AFC.
