Each Tuesday of the NFL we'll be sharing our thoughts on the NFL's best and worst teams, but more importantly, we'd prefer to hear your power rankings which you can create with the attached poll below.
I know the New York Giants are the defending Super Bowl Champions, but their play Thursday night doesn't gain them billing as my top NFL team. The New England Patriots have a certain issue that you may have heard about. So who's No. 1? After just 60 minutes of football the choice is easy...
1. Dallas Cowboys
Despite Derek Anderson's concussion and limited preseason practice, I still believe the Browns are a decent football team. The Cowboys made Cleveland look terrible, amounting just 205 total yards offense and limited Anderson to 11 completions in 24 attempts. Witten and Owens are constant mismatches and Marion Barber and Felix Jones are as good a tandem going in the league. Tony Romo has some options. Next week versus Philly will be a good test.
2. Pittsburgh Steelers
At least for this week, they were one of the best teams in the league. I'd have the Patriots here if not for Brady's injury, but seeing how dominant the Steelers offensive line was in the running game, my opinion of the Steelers improved dramatically.
3. New England Patriots
The season isn't over. Brady is a big loss, but I'd only write the Patriots off if they lost Randy Moss and/or a couple lineman.
4. New York Giants
On second thought, this seems way too high, but for now Justin Tuck and Matthias Kiwanuka appear to be able to hold their own as defensive ends. Brandon Jacobs somehow appears even bigger, and until someone can cover Plaxico Burress, I'll leave the G-Men in the top five.
5. Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers is going to be just fine. This is the same team that reached the NFC Championship Game, only with a year more experience from several young, talented linebackers. So long as Ryan Grant can run, the Packers will be among my top teams.
Who is the worst team in the NFL? Well, we left the power rankings poll at just 30 teams (because that's how our system works) because it's too difficult to choose between the Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals.
Then again, only one team allowed Joe Flacco to run wild. Yes, Joe Flacco.
