It's understood that Power Rankings don't really matter, it's the actual standings, but what else are we going to argue about until football returns? So, Power Rankings it is each Tuesday of the NFL season...Let me first say the difference between each of these top five teams is minimal, for now. We've had some teams with terribly easy schedules, why other 1-1 teams
1. Dallas Cowboys
I had them here last week and see no reason to move them down after outscoring Philadelphia last night in a shootout. Definitely concerned about the defense, but they were able to absorb the Eagles best shots and make the necessary stops in crunch time.
2. New England Patriots
The loss of Tom Brady will not be felt until possibly Week 6. Until then, New England will be able to dink and dunk all over the next two opponents (week 4 bye) and as evidenced by the defense effort against New York, they've taken the Brady hit as a personal challenge.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers
It wasn't pretty, but that's what the after effects of Hurricane Ike will do to a football game. Steelers defense kept the Browns just as confused as they were in week one. Never high on the aesthic aspects of winning, but remain one of the league's best.
4. Green Bay Packers
48 points was nice, but I'm going to disregard all teams that play the Lions. This is still based on the opening week performance and the accuracy of Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. Sunday night vs. the Cowboys will tell us more. I'm afraid this might be too high.
5. Philadelphia Eagles
I wasn't buying after an easy week one rout, but Philly has my attention after putting up 37 points last night in Dallas. Face my #3 Pittsburgh this Sunday at home. Expect the top of my rankings to be much firmer next Tuesday.
Worst Team? That honor still goes to the Cincinnati Bengals. At least the Lions showed they had one positive aspect to their team: passing offense with Calvin Johnson.
