NFL Power Rankings Week 5: NFC East, Then The Rest
I Didn't Want To Make Terrell Owens Cry, So Dallas Cowboys Are Still On Top
READ MORE:
The NFL might be as jumbled as the college football mess, but at least there's a consistent process to determine the title contenders.

I realize the Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans and New York Giants are undefeated and that the Washington Redskins just beat the Dallas Cowboys on the road, but I'm not ready to label any of those the best in the NFL. This will be an unpopular choice, their defense has clearly been a weakness, but until we get a larger sample size the top of my NFL Power Rankings stay the same...

1. Dallas Cowboys (3-1)
Yeah, yeah, I know they just lost at home to the Redskins. Great effort by Washington and if Santana Moss could just play every game at Texas Stadium he'd be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Cowboys still have a solid road win to their credit and have beaten a very good Eagles team. Terrell Owens could very well force me to move the 'Boys down next week if he continues his childish cries, but right now they're still the best team.

2. New York Giants (3-0)
Not flashy but they get it done. Despite the loss of Osi Umenyiora and Michael Strahan, the Giants still have 13 sacks in three games. Sunday they'll play without Plaxico Burress, but that shouldn't be an issue at home against the Seahawks.

3. Tennessee Titans (4-0)
It doesn't look right, but there's no ignoring the Titans anymore. They lead the NFL in point differential (+56) and points allowed per game and now have a QB in Kerry Collins who is making sure not to force any costly mistakes. The most physical team in football is running it down your throat and stuffing the run. That'll win you all kinds of football games. Sunday they visit Baltimore where we can only hope no one is seriously injured.

4. Washington Redskins (3-1)
Zorn Star is proving his worth as an NFL coach without any previous coordinator experience. Jason Campbell is quickly learning the West Coast offense and more importantly hasn't turned the football over all season. 6 TD's to 0 INT. Skins visit Philly this weekend as the NFC East continues to beat each other up.

5. Buffalo Bills (4-0)
Consecutive wins over Oakland and St. Louis is nothing to write home about, but when the Chiefs are upsetting the Broncos and the Bears are throwing the football on Philadelphia, being undefeated is impressive. Trent Edwards had his least impressive game the year Sunday in St. Louis, but once again was at his best in the 4th quarter and did what he needed to do to lift the Bills to the top of the AFC East.

6. Carolina Panthers (3-1)
Steve Smith's return should be enough to take a couple game lead in the suddenly competitive NFC South.

7. Philadelphia Eagles (2-2)

Who knows how they let Kyle Orton throw for three first half touchdowns, but the Bears are a different team on Sunday nights. We'll forgive the Eagles who had two back-to-back emotional games against Dallas and Pittsburgh. A win over Washington this week will get them back out of the NFC East cellar.

8. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2)
Expected more on Sunday at home vs. Texans, but David Garrard used his legs to pull out a win. Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor should have ran wild so that's concerning, but like the Eagles they're better than a lot of teams with one loss.

9. Indianapolis Colts (1-2)
Don't worry, they'll be just fine. Bye week came at the right time.

10. Denver Broncos (3-1)
Run over by the Chiefs? I need to see better run offense and defense before I consider a move back up the rankings.

Worst team? Cincinnati Bengals win it this week after Ryan Fitzpatrick led the team in rushing.

Say what you will about having to come back from 15-0 against the Raiders, but I'm not sure that the Jags, Colts, and Broncos are all better than San Diego. If not for a blown call and a Gramatica miss from 43 yards, Denver could be 1-3 right now.

You girls are getting desperate. By week 16 it's going to be a "12 days of Christmas" song about all the retarded things that could have bounced either way. If not for those two Big Ben interceptions...! If not for Matt Cassel's three fumbles...!! Let it go and take care of your own business, overrated fools.

About Denver, Tampa might have the best defense in the league right now. If the offense overcomes that and holds Ernie Graham to less than 200 yards (hehe) they'll be back on track.
I'm not surprised to get this reaction, but that doesn't mean it's valid. It seems like you may not be acutely aware of what I actually said. I didn't say the Chargers necessarily even belong in the top 10. Nor did I say anything about the Hochuli call messing things up for the Chargers. What I did was call into question whether all three of the teams I mentioned are better than San Diego and talk about Denver as one example. The point is, after two games that very reasonably could've been losses (and "could've" is putting it a little softly) and a loss to the Chiefs, 3-1 isn't necessarily that impressive. Look at my statement for what it is; please don't assume too much.

Who ever posted this saying "I didn't want to make Terrell Owens cry, so Cowboys are still on top", is just hating on the Cowboys because we all know that we are the BEST team out there in the NFL. And you know that we're going to win the Super Bowl this year!
