Will Ryan listen to his receivers and keep the ball on the ground in New England? [NFL Sunday Live Thread]

10/9/11 in NFL   |   Jess   |   34393 respect

Apparently, the New York Jets receiving corps would like to quit giving Sanchez chances to blow it...they've asked Rex Ryan to run the ball more, which is a refreshing change from the pleas for more catches that we usually get from receivers. I also find it amusing that they're giving their HC coaching tips.

On the first week of byes, we still have a full lineup of games to enjoy:

1:00 Games
Philly @ Buffalo
New Orleans @ Carolina
Oakland @ Houston
Kansas City @ Indianapolis
Cincinnati @ Jacksonville
Arizona @ Minnesota
Seattle @ NY Giants
Tennessee @ Pittsburgh

4:00 Games
Tampa Bay @ San Francisco
San Diego @ Denver
NY Jets @ New England Patriots

Primetime
Green Bay @ Atlanta

Which games will you be watching? Q it up here all day...

Can you tell I'm grasping at straws?

You forgot he's a tremendous competitor and his work ethic is unquestionable. Oh, and that stylish eye black looks good with orange and blue.

I agree. It's hard to prepare a team for a QB that goes 4/10 for 79 yard and 1 TD in 30 minutes of football (oh wait he did run for one also). Although there were highlights,  going three-and-out in his first series. He did complete a short pass to wide receiver Eric Decker for negative 4 yards.  But I guess two more years of working on his inaccuracy thanks to poor footwork and bad mechanic will fix that.

Andy Dalton and Cam Newton tend to disagree with this entire post.

I love this game.  Every week, every second half has been crazy. I almost picked the Bills today, for no other reason than I knew Teach was starting Vick. Stupid me. And Painter was Painter, I wish I could've watched that whole game. He makes it interesting. Texans are killing my Ma....and sista... and Crash. Saints/Panthers was good. And, is Whitehurst the only white player on the team?

(YAY Steelers. Go Seahawks, even though I didn't pick them either, I kinda knew)

10/9/11   |   Joe_L   |   12371 respect

Woohooo! Seahawks intercepted Eli Manning and took it 90 yards to the house. They lead the Giants 36-25, with 1:08 left.

Congrats Jess, your team couldn't have done it to a nicer team.

Vick will be charged with his fourth INT on the day. Even though Jason Avant couldn't hold onto the ball, which has happened twice today. Bill lead 31-24, moving the ball with a minute and a half remaining.

Game over, Eagles D jumps the hard snap count on fourth down. Bills win 31-24. I wonder if they are still dreaming?

10/9/11   |   Joe_L   |   12371 respect

Roethlisberger to Wallace for a 40 TD pass, 38-17 Steelers lead.

10/9/11   |   Joe_L   |   12371 respect

Painter has evidently lost what ever he had in the first half, 28-24 Chiefs lead. Who didn't see this coming?

10/9/11   |   Joe_L   |   12371 respect

Cam Newton has the Panthers leading the Saints 27-23, 10 minutes remaining, plenty of time for Drew to work.

Tomlin wins a challenge on what was called an incompletion to Mike Wallace on a 3rd down pass.  Replay showed him cradling the ball from what I could see.  Drive stays alive, and Heath Miller get his first TD catch of the season, 7-3 Steelers after the opening drives for both teams.
