We'll resume with the Rachel Bilson sponsored Week in Review again next week. For today we'll leave you with Super Bowl predictions to ponder for the next 24 hours.I'm afraid to ever share these playoff predictions because they'll likely be as accurate as last year's Wild Card Weekend. Which is to say, none of these will be right. Here goes nothing ...
Wild Card Weekend
Washington at Seattle 53% say Seahawks
The common sense rules of playoff predicting says 1) go with better QB and 2) go with the home team. I can't help it, I'm jumping aboard the Todd Collins train and believe they'll ride this quality play a few more games. A pass first, second and third offense just doesn't bode well for any team not named New England. My pick - Skins.
Jacksonville at Pittsburgh 68% say Jags
Surprised to see this only at 68 percent. It would seem everyone is convinced this will be a repeat of their last meeting. I'm going to apply the "see what everyone is picking and go the other way" method. Plus, I like the Steelers playoff experience over that of Jacksonville. My pick - Stillers.
New York at Tampa Bay 52% say Giants
I've convinced myself of every possible result thrice by now. Do I really trust Eli Manning on the road? Do I think Tampa can turn it on after taking two weeks off? Are the Giants healthy enough? Even if they are, remember that Tom Cough ... Cough ... Coughlin is coach. In the end I've decided to go with a simple process -- who has the hottest wife? Jeff Garcia. My pick - Bucs.
Tennessee at San Diego 92% say Chargers
I so badly want to pick the upset, but I think that'd be letting my desire for that to happen get in the way of logic. San Diego is too good to lose this at home. My pick - Chargers.
Looking forward, Divisional picks sure to go wrong:
Patriots over Steelers
Colts over Chargers
Redskins over Cowboys
Packers over Bucs
Conference Championships
Patriots over Colts (again)
Packers over Redskins
Here's my problem with this. Too good to be true for the NFL to get a Tom Brady/Brett Favre title game. Peter King won't know who to write about. The World Wide Leader would just scratch all other programming and devote two weeks to biographies of both quarterbacks.
Super Bowl
Patriots over Packers
I know I lack some balls in going most chalk, but I've seen little reason to doubt New England will win this season. Belichick is just toying with us. He could throw the deep ball to Randy Moss twice as much and make these games not even close, but as part of his easy cheating settlement with Roger Goodell he promised to keep the games close for TV ratings.
There are my picks. If you're inclined, share your Super Bowl predictions below.
