Now that everyone has reported, well, everyone except Brett Favre, we'll turn our daily focus to the training camp developments that we should actually care about. I probably don't need to tell you this, but the first preseason game is less than a week away. Rejoice!
TO vs Adam HBO's Hard Knocks is going to be incredible, and you can expect a lot more of these star wide receiver, infamous defensive back showdowns. Terrell got the best of Adam Jones on their first matchup, burning the corner formerly known as Pacman, for what would have been a touchdown.
They'll still be terrible Oakland is going to struggle, but any positive news in regards to JaMarcus Russell is progress. Apparently, he's been markedly improved over the first few days of camp and is more than ready to be the man. His holdout definitely hurt his progress last season, but it could have been a blessing in disguise to keep him on the sidelines and learning from the Raiders many mistakes. I predict a better season than most predict in Oakland, even, say 7-9.
Dolphins uninspired by QB competition Tony Sparano and Bill Parcells would like second-year quarterback John Beck to take over the starting position in these early stages of camp. Instead, he had what they are calling his 'worst practice ever' over the weekend. He threw 10 passes in the Dolphins second workout and three of them were picked off. Unfortunately, neither Josh McCown or Chad Henne has performed much better. As I've said previously, it will be Henne's job by midseason.
Speaking of terrible QB's The Rex vs Orton battle is too close to call after almost a week, which is translation for they both haven't been impressive. We'll continue to hear how Orton has the more accurate short game, while Grossman continues to dazzle with his deep balls. Unfortunately, we also keep hearing about their one-upping each other in the interception department. If we had to guess, Rex is the current leader in the clubhouse.
