NFL Week 11 Live Thread: Lions Need Giant Win
READ MORE:
NFL

Browns-Ravens, Dolphins-Eagles, Raiders-Vikings, Bucs-Falcons ... just riveting stuff early on this afternoon. There is however, one very critical game for both teams that should entertain: Giants visit the Lions to establish some form of hierarchy in the NFC behind Dallas and Green Bay.

Feel free to discuss all the games here.

Hey, the Bills/Pats game is listed as a 1 PM Start on Pick'em Still.   Plus, Bears/Seahawks is listed as a 8:30 start.  That could cause issues.

Picks for today (If you haven't picked yet, choose the opposite of me, you'll be set if you do)

Bucs over Falcons but Atlanta will keep it close

UPSET Lions over Giants (I know this will be wrong, the Lions have killed me all year, why I have faith in them is beyond me...)

Eagles over Phish big.

Vikings over Raiders, Raiders beat spread.

Jaguars over Chargers

Colts over Chiefs big

Texans over Saints

Packers over Panthers big

Bengals over Cards

Browns over Ravens

Steelers over Jets big

Dallas over Washington

Rams over 49ers

Seahawks over Bears, but Bears beat spread

Pats over Bills big

Broncos over the Titans

Uh oh, I only made one upset pick.  Watch it be like last week and be like 8 upsets.  Now I'm worried..

Colts/Chiefs and Lions/Giants early for me.    Late I may end up getting two games (I have a regular and an HD Fox, and they're different stations)  So I may have Dallas/WAS, or CHI/SEA, or hopefully both.

What amazes me is that the game Nantz and Simms get is Pittsburgh/Jets.  That's what they think their best game is???   For some reason, Colts/Chiefs gets Gus Johnson, I never have him in a Colts game because he's usually stuck with a crappy matchup.  Hmmm.

I get to watch Colts-Chiefs and Panthers-Packers for the early games, and then Cowboys-Redskins. Shouldn't be all that bad, I suppose. If I got to choose, I'd watch Giants-Lions on FOX, and Chargers-Jaguars on CBS for the early games, and then stick with the 'Boys-'Skins later on.

But as long as I get to see my Pats on Sunday Night, the rest really matters little to me.

I know the Rams/49ers game is terrible, but Chris Myers is the play-by-play for that???  Has he even ever done play-by-play?  And Color guy Rod Woodson?  What?

I'm looking forward to seeing Brodie Croyle. I think the Colts will give him a tough time, but I like the guy's arm, and I hope he can mature into a good NFL QB.

The Cardinals are in trouble today. No Adrian Wilson is going to hurt vs. the Bengals passing attack.

I also think he has all of the physical tools to be a good QB.  The question is, can he get some decent players around him, and can he mature mentally.

Am I reading that right on Gamechannel?  Sidney Rice (WR) threw a 79 yd pass to a tight end?  Wow.  Then Chester Taylor scores the TD.

11/18/07

Did Gus Johnson really just call Peyton Manning "Gnarly"?  Really Gus?

Nevermind, stupid Gamechannel lying to me...

Olindo Mare makes a long FG, didn't realize he knew how to make any kind of FG.

49 yd FG for Adam Vanderjagt Vinatieri here in a minute, he's gonna miss, he doesn't make long field goals.

11/18/07

I see this on NFL.com. Did this actually happen?

4-7 GB34 (8:16) (Field Goal formation) J.Kasay punts 28 yards to GB 6, Center-J.Kyle. T.Williams for 94 yards, TOUCHDOWN.

Had the distance, but pulled it.

Getting really sick of him missing every kick he trys...

I'm being told it did happen. Woohoo!

I feel bad for Adam Vinatieri. He's one of my all-time favorite players, but he's having a rough year with the Colts. He looked pretty frustrated after shanking that 49-yarder. Not a chip shot by any means, but definitely one that Adam expects himself to make.

Gamechannel just says punt return TD.  That's a strange play indeed if that's the case.

Just saw the replay, insane.

It wouldn't be Sunday if Kurt Warner wasn't chucking passes at linemen.

Antrell Rolle INT return for a TD! This might be the only way the Cardinals will score today!

11/18/07

Hooray punt returner fumbles!

Tampa scores, long ball to Galloway.

Antrel Rolle gets the Cards on the board, TD INT.

I know we all like to make fun of Vinny T for being so old and still playing, but he has a heckuva arm for a 43 year guy.

Memo to Colts management.  Cut Adam Vinatieri.  He's done.

The Pack offense doesn't look as sharp as usual. Can anyone that can see the game tell me what's up?

Jags go for it on 4th down twice in the redzone, pays off, TD Jags.

They're saying he's hurt. I haven't heard anything about that, but if his plant foot is actually not 100%, then it's understandable. But he's looking awful right now, no doubt about it.

Panthers have been getting quite a bit of pressure on Brett and keeping us out of rhythm.

For the first time all year, Ted Ginn appears useful.  Punt return TD.

Some people may have thought I'd campaign for Randy Moss, but is there any doubt right now that Priest Holmes is the comeback player of the year?

If he's hurt, then bench him until he's healed and pick up someone who can make a F%#%ing field goal...

It almost sounds like they're just trying to make excuses for him being bad...

Not sure if I've mentioned this, but Brodie Croyle has a cannon. I could seriously sit here and watch him throw all day.

I agree. They might fall into a tie for the division lead today, and if they lose by 6 or less...

I think you know what I'm getting at.

What a catch by Chambers, it should be overturned as a catch.

Freaking INT....this game should be so much different but the Colts have continued to look bad.  What's amazing is that the defense continues to be great.

Hey Vinatieri, see what Raynor just did?   That "Making" the Field goal thing?   DO THAT FOR ONCE.

Ugh this is killing me.  We can't afford to lose winnable games when we have the Jaguars (and to a lesser extent, the Titans) right in our face.  We keep this crap up, we'll lose the division...(Which was my preseason pick, that the Jags would take the division...)

11/18/07

If Rackers makes a FG, that would make Vinatieri statistically the 2nd worst kicker in the NFL right now.  (Mare is worst.)

11/18/07

Touchdown Packers! That drive was more like it.

11/18/07

I was thinking the Chiefs would beat the spread, but changed my mine.  Right now, that pick looks very wrong...

In other news, I can't believe I picked the Ravens to win the Super Bowl. I'm also a replacement (maybe below replacement) level predictor.

You really picked them to win it all???  I mean, I picked them to win the division, but...wow lol.

In the midst of Adrian Peterson-mania.  It's forgotten that Chester Taylor is a pretty good RB.  TD Vikes.

That's usually how my preseason NFL predictions work.

Good thing Raynor continues to suck.  Clunk off the goalpost.

Great TD by the Jags, they lead 17-3.  That team scares me.

Ravens D just figured something out, Ray Ray TD INT.

Leftwich fumble, TD Bucs.  Why they benched Harrington for him is beyond me.

11/18/07

I love this Colts defense.  Mathis with the fumble, fatman Dawson recovers.  This D is great.

11/18/07

TD Saints, Brees to Henderson.

11/18/07

Painful fumble for Croyle right there...that was a huge break for the Colts.

11/18/07

Terrible job blowing a TD chance with a dumb false start.

Hey, Vinatieri made a FG!  But even Jose Cortez made one once in a while...

11/18/07

Kurt Warner has had 2 ridiculous playground throws on this drive. They're working, but sooner or later something will go wrong, since after all, these are still the Cardinals.

11/18/07

Just got home; a lil late...only game now is Atlanta/Tampa.

Then Washington/Dallas & Pitt/NY Jets.

Looking at the score right now in Indy.....I don't feel too bad with my 2%

11/18/07

Touchdown Cardinals, Warner to Fitz.

Packers recover the fumble and a 18 point lead into halftime.

11/18/07

Tomlinson's 109th TD run (already?) Chargers down by a TD.

Eagles take a FG lead with a TD run by Buckhalter.

10-7 eagles

11/18/07

I don't think that was a TD, but my opinion doesn't matter.  Games' tied...ugh.

Brodie to Bowe for a Chiefs TD!

10-10

11/18/07

TD Jags, they lead by two TDs.

Shouldn't have picked the Colts to cover that huge spread.  I flip-flopped at the last second on that too...

11/18/07

Now it's the Cardinals' turn to suck. Blocked punt returned for a TD, Cincy within 1.

feeley to avant for the TD
17-7 eagles

Wow, McNabb must have been flat out yanked.  Eagle TD from Feeley to Avant.

11/18/07

I think I heard McNabb tweaked his ankle.

Antrel Rolle just returned another INT for a TD. This has been a pretty crazy game.

11/18/07

Someone needs to tell Carson Palmer that Antrel Rolle isn't his teammate.  Rolle's 2nd INT TD.

And seeing this, Kyle Boller decides to match, Brodney Pool a pick to the house.

FG Giants, and once again I hate the Lions, because every week this happens.  I had picked the Giants too and changed....I figured whichever way I picked, the opposite would happen, that's what the Lions have done to me all season...

Didn't like the risky 4th down try, but it worked out.

I'd like to believe that Vinatieri can make a chipshot 25 yd FG to win the game, but I don't have a huge amount of faith.

Colts win.   Another horrible game by offense and special teams, and the defense once again ends up the key.

11/18/07

If you have a QB who has one of the strongest arms in the league (yeah, Croyle does), and you are down by 3 and need a 60 yard TD, WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY would you throw a little dump-off?

Herm Edwards is officially the worst coach ever. Even when he does well (great job by the Chiefs today), he still sucks.

11/18/07

Other final, Eagles beat Miami by 10.  I think the spread was 10.5   D'oh!   This could be another awful pick'em week...

Terrible penatly call in Lions/Giants.  That was NOT roughing the QB, not a chance.

Nice pick by Knight to seal the game for the Jaguars.  Big win for them.

11/18/07

Bout time this loads back up...

Lions continue to kill me.  Shaun McDonald has an easy one bounce right off of his hands for a INT, sucky way to lose, and kill me in pick'em ANOTHER WEEK!!!  GAH!!

What a comeback attempt by the Ravens here to make this close.

Anderson gets sacked.  Wow, the Ravens could pull this off.  (And if they do, another pick wrong....)

Antrell Rolle just returned his 3rd interception of the day for a touchdown, which is a new NFL record.

No TD, some moron hit Palmer illegally during the return.

That should seal this one for the Cardinals.

The kick in Ravens/Browns is insane.  Bounces off the left upright, then hits the back part of the crossbar, meaning it should be good.  It's not reviewable, but they review it anyway (it was called no good) and just got called good and now they're going to overtime.  Geez.

KC, to your Q, it's the local market deal.  They can't switch the local team until there game is completely finished.  2 weeks ago, I had to miss the first few plays of Colts/Pats because the Lions weren't done yet.

11/18/07

blah. it was a 31-0 game. Nobody was even at the stadium anymore; I don't think I should suffer anymore

As far as the Baltimore game; hilarious for the Ravens to be called back out to the field...Browns win toss and 40 yard return...

Heh, even they won out and went 8-8...I highly doubt it.  Seattle has shown to be a solid team, they'll win 10 and the division, and 8-8 won't get them a WC.

Yeah, I figured that one out about week 3 lol.

I usually am solid at straight winners (11-3 this week,  106-63 on the year) but I usually manage to suck on spread. (5-9 today,  81-88 on the year)  I'm decent on over/unders, some weeks I'm great, some bad.  This week, 7-7 (88-81)

11/18/07

I have to say, this was a great week.   Most of the games were very close and very entertaining.

On a positive note, as NBC just said, Kevin Everett was released from the hospital, and apprently he left a message for the fans before the start of the game that NBC will show.  Hopefully he makes a full and quick recovery.
